ELECTION 2018: 30TH HOUSE DISTRICT

GOP’s Baleshiski drops out of race By Mike Savino Record-Journal staff

Southington Republican Steve Baleshiski dropped out of the 30th House District race amid continued criticism over Facebook posts. Republicans in the district, which includes parts of Berlin and Southington, had until Wednesday, Oct. 17 or 21 days before the election, to find a replacement to run against House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, D-Berlin. Baleshiski, 22, gave no reason for his decision in a one-sentence letter he filed with Secretary of the State Denise W. Merrill and did not return requests for comment.

Now, there is a “new” VFW Charter in Dornfried’s name and a plaque honoring his service and dedication to the country, state and Town of Berlin. Dornfried and his beloved
