Study: Police station fails to meet development goals By Ashley Kus The Citizen
Land near the train station on Farmington Avenue may not be suitable for a police station, according to a study regarding potential transitoriented development in the Kensington Village area.
“We need to look at what makes sense to us,” said Chris Edge, director of economic development. “It’s a great opportunity to look at what the long term can be.” The town previously hired a team of consultants, led by the Massachusetts-based
company CivicMoxie, to study the area. The study was funded by a grant. Several meetings over the last year concentrated on the quarter-mile radius surrounding the train station.

The holidays will be a little brighter for troops in Kuwait this year thanks to a group of volunteers in Berlin.
“It’s mission accomplished,” said Deputy Chief Chris Ciuci. “We’re getting them out of medicine cabinets, so that’s a win in our book.”
“Everyone is contributing in so many ways,” said Karen Cote, a Berlin resident.
People dropped off unused and expired medications outside Town Hall Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28.
This will be the third year of Cote’s efforts to send gift boxes to deployed troops. The boxes will be gift wrapped by the community Thanksgiving night at the VFW on Massirio Drive. Liam, 7, and his mother Kristin Gauvin help fill boxes for military care packages, Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Berlin. | Ashley Kus, The Citizen
