Berlin students and police officers will take a trip to the toy store next month to pick out gifts for local families in need.
Community members gathered at Town Hall last week as town officials were sworn into office.
“It’s all about being an upstanding citizen,” said Detective Theodore Fuini. The event, in its second year, is part of the DARE program for fifth graders.

The Town Council met for the first time since the election Tuesday night, Nov. 21 with two incumbents and four new councilors.
Jack Healy, public works director and town engineer, was approved unanimously by the council to become acting manager effective Nov. 27.

Incumbent councilors Brenden Luddy and Peter Rosso were also sworn in along with newly elected councilors Amy Maier-Daniele, JoAnn Angelico-Stetson, Alex Giannone and Karen Pagliaro. Sam Lomaglio, Kevin Guite, Sal Bordonaro, Mark Holmes, Gerald Paradis and Berlin’s new Town Council convenes.
