Rail line launch ‘exciting’ By Mary Ellen Godin Record-Journal staff
NEW HAVEN — The cars are 30 years old with no internet and no bathrooms, but no one was complaining Friday as Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, lawmakers and rail workers took an inaugural ride on the state’s newest rail line.

Even with a 101.6 grade-point-average on a 100-point scale, multiple extracurricular activities and volunteer work, Berlin High School valedictorian Ashley Bryant was surprised when she received word of her acceptance to one college in particular. "It was really, really shocking. It was one of those things, you never expect
to get into Harvard, so I'm obviously very humbled and very honored to have been accepted," said Bryant, who is considering majoring in history, economics, or a business-oriented field at the Ivy League university. In addition to her high marks, she was varsity tennis captain, being the Spring Scholar Athlete for the past two years, captain of the color guard, a member of the band and mentored
students at Griswold Elementary School through the Upbeat Program. She was also a 2018 Disney Scholar, the first CT Governor's Scholar in the history of Berlin High School and a National Merit Commended Student, among other achievements in and outside of Berlin High School. ”This is a day to remember,” Malloy said as he cut the ribbon on Track 3 at Union Station. “This is an exciting new chapter in transportation and economic development. We need to modernize rail in America and I’m very proud Connecticut is showing how to do it.” The CTrail Hartford Line train bound to Hartford picked up passengers along the way. In Wallingford, Malloy greeted state Rep.
