Agricultural regulations are a hot topic for Berlin farmers, who offered suggestions at a meeting Jan. 14. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. The purpose of the meetings are to “hear from the

citizens of the town,” said Director of Development Services Hellyn Riggins. According to Riggins, everyone at the meeting spoke in favor of reducing regulations, while some spoke in favor of doing away with regulations entirely. The former Hawthorne Inn banquet facility on the Berlin Turnpike will go up for auction on Feb. 6. The former restaurant has been on the market since the summer of last year. Joe Granato, a broker with American Brokers & Consultants 4 Restaurants who was listing the property, couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday.
