We’re pleased to announce that the March Sproul Lanes Student of the Month is Marple Newtown High School Sophomore Kelsey Racine! To celebrate this recognition, Kelsey received a Certificate of Achievement and a gift certificate for a “Pizza Bowl” party from Sproul Lanes, our Sponsor of this award program. Kelsey has actively served several local communities. Last spring, she was 1 of 40 teens selected to attend a 3-day leadership camp that developed her communication and relationship skills, and taught her to “live life to the fullest, take risks, and to break out of [her] comfort zone.” Last summer, she served as a counselor at Newtown Square Presbyterian Church’s week-long Bible day camp. And Kelsey has recently been volunteering as a member of the Decorating Committee for her school’s Mini-THON, an annual dance event that helps raise awareness and funds to conquer childhood cancer. Kelsey is also very involved in several team sports. In the fall, she played on her school’s JV volleyball team. She has played softball since age 5, in the Newtown Square Petticoat League (NSPL). She’s now a pitcher on MN’s Varsity softball team and on the Pegasus 16U travel team, where she also plays 3rd and 1st bases. Kelsey loves how softball has helped her develop great teamwork skills and friendships on and off the fields. She also enjoys coaching at clinics MN’s softball team sponsors, to help younger players in the community develop their skills. Kelsey is considering a career in Physical Therapy or Sports Medicine, a natural progression to combine her service-oriented nature with her love of sports. All your Friends & Neighbors in the Marple Newtown community congratulate you on this award and wish you well, Kelsey, in all your future endeavors!
