Congratulations to Julia Fallows, October Sproul Lanes Student of the Month!
The October Sproul Lanes Student of the Month is Marple Newtown High School senior Julia Fallows! Julia received a Certificate of Achievement, and looks forward to enjoying her award: a “Pizza Bowl” party courtesy of Sproul Lanes, our Sponsor of this program.
This “amazing young woman who is resilient, mature, thoughtful, enthusiastic, athletic and conscientious academically” has served her school community in many ways, including in Student Government since freshman year, and was awarded her school’s Positive on People (POP) award for her impact on her school community. She plans on running for President of her senior class. And Julia’s academic and leadership excellence has won her the prestigious Widener Leadership Award and scholarship.
Julia’s positive experience as a Participant in a LINK (Leaders Involved in Networking Kids) weekend retreat prompted her to give back as a LINK retreat Leader, to help other teens experience that safe and welcoming environment for discussing real-life problems. She has also participated in her school’s annual Mini-THON, a fundraiser to help fight pediatric cancer.
Since freshman year, Julia has performed in MN’s fall and spring theatrical productions. In the spring, she served as co-Head of their Marketing & Publicity Team, which raised $2,000 and won a 2019- 2020 Greater Philadelphia CAPPIE award for their outstanding efforts.
A natural athlete who has loved cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field sports since age 10, Julia is again serving as Captain of MN’s Varsity Cross Country and Indoor & Outdoor Track teams this year.
Julia’s personal experience motivated her to participate in the annual Care to Carry On Run and Walk, to raise funds for the Erin Moyer Foundation, which helps kids ages 6-18 understand and cope with grief. She plans a career as a high school or college Counselor.
