Lindsey Poeth, Certified Senior Advisor (CSA®), worked in pharmaceutical market research for 15 years before starting her own company, Oasis Senior Advisors Mainline, a free senior housing placement service for individuals and families. During her years in the pharmaceutical industry, she gathered a lot of feedback from patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals, to ensure their voices were heard. “This opportunity to start my own company fell into my lap,” said Lindsey, “and I jumped at the chance – with a goal of making a positive impact in my community by working directly with seniors and their families, often as a guide during a time of crisis.”
Located in Malvern, Oasis Senior Advisors Mainline is a national organization that helps you choose the perfect place for your loved one, whether it is for an independent living situation or full-time care. Oasis works with hospitals and rehab facilities, but also directly with families. “Each family is unique in their needs, so each requires a specialized plan of action,” explained Lindsey.
The Oasis team offers a compassionate and personalized approach as they help navigate the challenging process of selecting the perfect home for yourself or your family member. A few of their senior housing options include assisted living, skilled nursing homes, retirement communities and respite services. “We often work with seniors or their adult children if the seniors are unable to coordinate their care,” she said.
Oasis Senior Advisors Mainline urges families to plan for the future, but many times they are called in to help after a traumatic event such as hospitalization after a fall.
Oasis Senior Advisors Mainline was started in 2018 and plans on continuing to grow, helping as many families as possible. “I love listening to the stories my clients have – and hearing about their experiences that made them who they are today,” said Lindsey, “I’ve been lucky enough to find out first-hand what it was like to be one of the first women to work as an Engineer in the NASA program, what is was like during the Korean War, and what it’s like to shoot a hole in one – all things that are a bonus for me on top of doing my job!”
These unprecedented times are having a negative impact on our seniors in ways beyond the virus itself. “We are very lucky in our area that many of the Assisted Living communities are COVID-free,” said Lindsey, “in part due to the steps they took to close the doors to outside visitors.” In support of the community during these times, the Oasis team is at the ready, donating PPE to the facilities in greatest needs: nursing homes and hospitals.
Oasis Mainline also coordinated the delivery of over 500 handwritten cards. “Many of the cards were from local girl scouts and school children, bringing a touch of warmth and love to those residents who were unable to see their families,” said Lindsey.
Lindsey, a native of upstate New York, moved to the Philadelphia area in 2005, and currently resides in Chester County. In her spare time, she enjoys running, golfing, gardening, skiing out west and spending time with her two children, both of whom are in high school. “Today, I am able to utilize my experience when listening to seniors and their families, offering assistance, and providing guidance to match them with their ideal assisted living community – a much-needed service that had been lacking in our area.”
