ON THE COVER The Snyder Family at St. Albans Swim & Tennis Club

What a summer! No room at the beach, on planes or trains, and traffic again on West Chester Pike! We’re charging back out after the world pandemic took center stage for too long. It’s great to see our friends and neighbors more regularly again. This month begins our fourth year of publishing Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors in print and online at www.NewtownSquareMag.com. And also our neighboring hometown magazine, Marple Friends & Neighbors, which is also online at www.MarpleMag.com. The 37th issue of each magazine now makes a combined 74 issues with Marple Newtown residents on a cover! Look online to get reacquainted with the Newtown Square families we introduced you to in our past issues. And go look at Marple Friends & Neighbors online, to see how many Marple families you know who found themselves on the cover of their hometown magazine. Every month, Readers tell me how they look forward to each new issue. In every case, after a few kind comments, every Reader gets around to saying the same thing: “You know, I actually have known more than several of the families on the cover.” How great is that! Well, of course they do. We’re all social beings. We’re friends. And we’re neighbors. But we don’t realize just how many people we know in our community through our work or volunteer service, schools or sports, or our family members. Whether taking walks, shopping locally or worshiping together, over years of living in Newtown Square, we become connected far more than we realize. And that’s at the root of our magazine’s motto: Bringing People Together. I know you’ll enjoy this issue of Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors. After all, you’re one of us. And I hope you feel the same way about our advertising Sponsors seen on these pages of your hometown magazine. They’re one of us too. Enjoy the best-of-the-rest of this summer. Shop Local. And whenever possible, please try to do business first with our advertising Sponsors who truly deserve our support.

Hello August! We’ve officially entered the Dog Days of Summer! Did you know that this nickname is not because our pups are panting but because, during this month in ancient Roman times, the star Sirius — also known as the dog star — rose at the same time as the sun? Did you also know that August is National Golf Month? We’ve got some great ideas on how to celebrate on and off the greens. The party continues as we say “Cheers to 3 Years” of Bringing People Together through our Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine. The Marple Newtown 4th of July Parade was a huge success, and we have the full recap about winners. And we introduce you to the Snyder family — Chris, Lauren, Katie and Ally — who are jumping into August feet first! We are always looking for more Newtown Square families, individuals and organizations to feature in our magazine. If you’d like to nominate someone, please email me at STurnerHilliard@BestVersionMedia.com.
