ohara Arabians When Breeders Unite, Greatness is Achieved...

As breeders of Arabian horses, we have some powerful tools

available to us through the internet and data sources. Researching pedigrees is a fascinating and educational aspect of breeding. We not only learn about the horses, but about their breeders. In some cases, we can trace bloodlines and breeders back for more than 200 years. We have thousands of dedicated people to thank for the beautiful Arabian horses we enjoy today. With the diminishing number of breeders today, it is more important than ever that they unite to support and help each other to ensure the future of the Arabian horse. Ken White of Arabian Horse Futures bought his first Arabian from the legendary breeder, Toik Halberg, approximately 40 years ago. Toik was famous as the owner of such influential horses as the mare Buffa (Negatiw x Busznica) and the stallion Hal Gazal (Eleuzis x Bufa). Ken purchased his first mare, GB Gemma (Gawad x Kilmeny) from Dr. and Marianne Grimmel. The initials ‘GB’ stood for Grimmel and Boggs, as in Don and Shorty Boggs, the parents of David and Bob Boggs. Ken eventually purchased Hal Gazal from Toik Halberg and successfully showed the stallion at Scottsdale and other top venues. Hal Gazal was pure Polish and stood 16 hands. He was impressive to say the least. The big, black-bay stallion caught the eye of another breeder who was determined to own him. That breeder was Dick Ames of Cedar Ridge Arabians. Ken White says his introduction to Arabian horses came through some of the finest people in the breed and he is proud that their friendships endure even until today.

Tracy White and her son, Parker, share a special moment with a foal they bred.

Full sisters, Aria Elita and Aria Jamina (Justify x BK Tamina), owned by Arabian Horse Futures.

Life changes brought a sabbatical from the horses. However,

they remained close to Ken’s heart. In 2002, Ken and his daughter, Tracy White, attended the Scottsdale All Arabian Show. That was it – they both wanted to be involved with the horses again. They leased the straight Egyptian mare Thee Paris Debut (Thee Desperado x TR Paris Atnight) and bred her to Marwan Al Shaqab (Gazal Al Shaqab x Little Liza Fame), who was standing with Michael Byatt. They also bought the Marwan daughter, Marjjana VA (x Mi Khismet) who was so beautiful she became a cover girl for the Arabian Horse World. The Whites received an offer for the filly from a breeder in Poland – it was too good to refuse, and the colt from Thee Paris Debut, named Marwan’s Debut, was purchased by a breeder in the Middle East. They soon began their search for another horse and it didn’t take long for them to find their heart’s desire. Bob Boggs introduced Ken and Tracy to the exquisite filly Aria Elita (Justify x BK Tamina). Later, they also saw her full sister, Aria Jamina, who was with David Boggs. It became a dilemma – which one should they buy. They couldn’t decide – so they bought them both! Jamina was shown at Scottsdale and did well, winning a Top Ten at the prestigious show. Her sister, Aria Elita, set a record at the Arabian Breeders’ World Cup in Las Vegas by earning the most scores of 20 at the show that year. There was no doubt – they were show-ring super stars – but their greatest achievements were yet to come. As two-year olds, Jamina was bred to World Champion Dakharo (Dakar El Jamaal x FOF Kharolina) and produced a colt and a filly via embryo transfer. The filly, Makhara AF, went on to become a double National Champion. Aria Elita was bred to six-time National Champion Stallion DA Valentino (Versace x DA Lova). She also produced a filly and a colt via embryo transfer; both were sold before they were born.

When Ken and Tracy saw Elita’s colt, they experienced seller’s remorse and

quickly bought him back. They named him Elite AF. Later, he went on to be named the Canadian National Reserve Champion Futurity Stallion. Even this high honour would not be his greatest achievement; he had much, much more to offer. Meanwhile, Elita was very busy. The Whites bred her to multiple National Champion Stallion Trussardi (Stival x Precious as Gold), and produced a lovely filly, Estelita. In 2017, Estelita produced a spectaular filly by World Champion Stallion QR Marc (Marwan Al Shaqab x Swete Dreams). Estelita lives at Shada Arabians; Jeff and Jerry Schall declare that Estelita’s filly, Marquessa AF (pending), is one of the best fillies ever at the farm. Estelita is back in foal to QR Marc for a March 2018 foal. The Whites bred Elita back to Trussardi and again the foal was sold before it was born. The lucky owners, the Haineys, got a gorgeous chestnut filly they named MCF Tru Elation. The resemblance of MCF Tru Elation to her granddam, the legendary Precious as Gold (El Shaklan x Autumn in Gold), is truly incredible. Tru Elation is a Scottsdale Champion and is owned by Antonette Ginochio. In 2016, the Whites moved Elita to Arizona and placed her with Pat McGinnis and his wife, Dr. Amy Voliva, DVM. Elita was bred to World Champion Stallion Kahil Al Shaqab (Marwan Al Shaqab x OFW Mishaahl). In 2017, Elita presented the Whites with a stunning colt. They named him Khalif AF, and what a colt he is! Pat showed Khalif AF at the Arabian Breeders’ National Finals where he was named 2017 Gold Champion Weanling Colt. With the incredible bloodlines in his pedigree added to his undeniable type and quality, there is no doubt great things are in the future for Arabian Horse Futures and their superstar Khalif AF.

show-ring, it was time to prove himself as a sire. The Whites truly believe that Elite has the genetic strength to make significant contributions. His pedigree includes the names of some of the most highly decorated champions of the show-ring, as well as leading sires and dams of the breed. Elite was bred to a variety of mares to test his abilities; the results exceeded everyone’s highest expectations.

One of the Whites’ goal is to make Elite AF accessible to as many breeders as possible – especially small breeders like themselves. Florida breeder Karin McMurtrie, together with her husband Mitch and their business partner Ken Miller, bred several mares to Elite and produced outstanding foals. Steve Lauzier of California is another small breeder who has produced several beautiful foals with Elite. In addition, Arizona breeder David Cains chose Elite AF for a mare owned by Al Jood Stud of Kuwait, who is under his management, and she also produced an outstanding filly. Satin Chall LL, Dam of Two National Champions, In Foal To Elite AF for 2018

In September, the Whites moved Elite AF to one of the most

highly respected breeding farms in the world – Rohara Arabians, owned by Roxann and Karl Hart. Joining Elite AF at Rohara is a very special mare the Whites acquired in 2016 from Steve and Darla Miles of Milestone Arabians. Steve and Darla have bred Arabians for decades and own some incredible horses, including the exquisite mare Alia Psyche (Padrons Psyche x Focus Alianna). The Whites were thrilled when they learned the Miles’ national champion producing mare, Satin Chall LL (Magnum Chall HVP x Psykie Delic), was available. Satin Chall LL is the dam of multiple National Champion Mare, Valori TRF (by DA Valentino), now owned by Patricia Dempsey of Beloveds Farm. Satin Chall LL produced her second National Champion offspring, Valdyss MA, was named the 2017 U.S. National Champion Yearling Gelding. Satin Chall is presently carrying a foal by Elite AF and is due in February of 2018.

Ken and Joanne White, together with Ken’s daughter, Tracy, are the ide-

al small breeders. Their breeding program, called Arabian Horse Futures, has a foundation of almost 50 years of experience. Ken shared another goal, which is to uphold honesty and integrity in breeding and in the show ring to ensure the future of the Arabian horse breed. Their decision to unite their efforts with Rohara Arabians was based on their respect for Roxann Hart, also a breeder of 50 years, whose program has produced many national and international champions. The Whites recognize that Roxann, and everyone at Rohara, shares in this important goal. Rohara’s staff are headed up by John Rannenberg, one of the most highly respect horseman of our industry. Together, they provide the best possible care focusing on the physical and emotional well-being of each individual horse. Rohara Arabians, Roxann, John, and the Rohara staff have earned a reputation for professionalism and integrity. Mare owners who select Elite AF can be assured of great service from Rohara Arabians, as well as the potential for a truly elite foal.
