Mustang
“The essential fortitude and nobility of these self-sufficient survivors of the open range must be honored, and so I have, in bronze, a medium I hope will last as long as they do – until the end of time.” – Carol Fensholt Nierenberg
Swords of the Sky “Swords of the Sky was my first sculpture, and it just came ripping out. Looking back, I think it was my ‘breakout’ rebellion. It expresses all the frustration I had felt for 30 years in the confines of a career that didn’t fit me, and thus this fiery sculpture was cathartic. Carl Jung once said, ‘The most intense conflicts, if overcome leave behind a sense of security ...
‘it is just these intense conflicts and their conflagration which are needed to produce valuable and lasting results.’ I hope these words are true. Today there is so much conflict around the world, among each other, and even within ourselves. Swords of the Sky represents it all. It’s my dream that this ubiquitous conflict results in positive change.” – Carol Fensholt Nierenberg
