The Committee is meeting regularly and continues to focus on the importance of creating a safe environment for the breadth of activity that takes place within Beth El. As part of that effort, education and preparedness is of utmost importance. We hope that you are planning to attend the safety awareness event on Thursday, January 26, at 7 pm. We will continue to offer these on-site situational awareness educational sessions so that we raise our collective understanding of the building and actions we can take to ensure our overall safety. Our awareness campaign also includes the implementation of a Shabbat service security announcement, to keep our congregants and guests informed and safe. Please remember this campaign’s intent is not to unnerve, but is to create awareness and to educate.

In addition to these efforts, we continue to monitor our operational protocols and the physical building and make improvements as needed. We always look to balance the sanctity of Beth El with prudent measures that are meant to bolster our resilience. We will be applying for a Homeland Security grant in 2023 to support these efforts.

Lastly, we are looking to add members to our First Responders Committee. These volunteers will augment our capabilities for medical care in an emergency. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Marilyn Russell at mrussell@bethelnr.org.

Thank you

Security Committee
