Located in the district of Tonosi, Los santos Province, Panama. Venao West Master plan promises to be the first major touristic and urban development, as a result of visionaries who found the place, great potential, natural beauty and peace; where they found inspiration to share with the world the wonders of this place.

URBAN CONTEXT U RB AN CONTE XT Venao West Master plan, represents an extended territory in Cañas Town, distric of Tonosí, in the Azuero Peninsula. It is located to the northeast of Cañas Town, and it has 160 ha aprox. The access is through the route of Tonosí, from Pedasí arriving to Cañas Town. On the south side of the project is Cañas Island, a popular site for turtle watching.

From Panama city, By airplane: 35 min until Chitre city. By car: Panamaricana road until Chitre city (4 hrs) from there to Cañas town.

TA BOOUTNTONOSI OSI Azuero Peninsula, is surrounded by mountains, with great natural beauty and little urban developing. The main touristic town is Pedasi where you can find traditional houses, local restaurants with typical food and wonder flora and natural landscapes. Azuero Peninsula has beautiful paradise beaches, to enjoy surfing, horseback riding and long walks on the beach. The most popular are Playa Venao and Cambutal. Also, we can find great biodiversity. Near to Pedasi, is Iguana Island, where you can find more than 500 species of fish and 10 types of corals. Also from April and September you can observe the nesting sea turtles that migrate from the North Pole and the South Pole to these beaches, and whales come to mate in tropical waters.

LANDSCAPING LANDSCA PING The primary foundation of Venao West is creating a sustainable and healthy environment for the community. To achieve this, environmental facts and analysis are taken into consideration to address the location’s long dry seasons. Through conscious reforestation and rainwater harvesting the project not only will sustain over time but have a regenerative, lush and evergreen landscape as well as a rich biodiverse ecosystem.


Refore station and Edible Forest Ga rdens The project will contain within extensive areas designated for reforestation and edible food forest gardens. Trees protect the soil from effects of tropical heat, rain and wind. Soil temperatures are lower under tree canopies, permitting reaccumulation of organic matter that restores soil structure and microbiota and enhances moisture- and nutrient-holding abilities. This is made by consciously planting multiple different species of trees including natives, timber, etc. On the other hand, also areas will be designated for food forests which are manmade edible ecosystems, a consciously designed community of mutually beneficial plants and animals intended for food production.

Water Management H ar vesting The project will have sustainable overall water management, though rainwater catchment, as well as organic pools, bio filters and rainwater harvesting. Through earthworks and landscape design, the project will naturally harvesting rainwater into the soil so moisture lingers longer into the dry season while simultaneously reducing flooding in the wet season, infiltrating more into the land, buffering the extremes. Some of the earthworks imply infiltration basins, terraces, check dams, diversion swales and contour plantings.

COMMERCIAL C OMMERCIAL & MAIN ENTR ANCE The design of the main entrance of this ambitious project will have an organic non-conventional form that represents nature in an iconic way. Behind this object, the project will feature a large square that frames the site and has a lush vegetation of native species. The area will count with enough parking lots and commercial area to cover future demand.

This area includes the Clubhouse, Soccer and Multipurpose Fields, Swimming Pools, Children’s Playground, Shops and Restaurants. All surrounded by lush and abundant vegetation and water features and a natural treated lake.

The Clubhouse building integrates a variety of programs with educational, social and leisure purposes. The educational program is intended to exhibit and share knowledge to local and foreign communities about reforestation and water management. The social and leisure program integrates a large conference room adaptable for maximum 250 people for events and weddings, as well as restaurants, open spaces and inner patio gardens. The building has changing rooms to serve swimming pool area as well as a large gym, small spa and hair salon.

Bordering the lake the project includes a boulevard with restaurants and shops to serve the community of Venao West, as well as outside visitors. Simple buildings and open areas integrates with the landscape surrounding the community. This area accommodates stores, convenience stores, restaurants and outdoor market. Wood is the predominant material which provides a warm and cool atmosphere to invite the casual meeting of its inhabitants.
