We are George and Shyra Bridges citizens of The Kingdom of God.

We have been assigned to the upstate to be battle axes for the Father with instructions to cut things off the roots of mankind so that they may come into the awareness of The Father’s love, word, and spirit.

To teach them about The King of Kings and what Kingdom living is and isn’t.

To bring wholeness to the broken areas in one’s life and to bring Kingdom order in one’s life. .

We are from Sacramento, California of God originally and were sent to the Upstate area in 2016 to launch a prophetic and apostolic in-nature house ministry like in the book of Acts.

Where they met in one another homes and fellowship. An example is in Acts2:46-47.

House fellowship, also known as home cell groups or units, is a church expression of mission that takes place in a home, office, or marketplace.

It’s a community of 6-20 people, all ages, who may meet weekly or monthly for 1-3 hours

Godorchestratedsomethingsthatproved Hewaswithusonthisjourney.

WewouldtraveltoSouthCarolinaand workoutofHismasterplanforus.

OutofourloveandobedienceforGod, withlittleinourbankaccountsbut wordsfromGodweembarkedonour 3,000milejourneyacrosscountryintwo separatevehicles.

Wehadmanychallengesalongtheway, butGodwasalwaysfaithfultousand impartedgreatgracetoustocomplete thejourney.

WestartedoutinBeltonSouthCarolina forsixmonths,thanmyhusbandGeorge prayedforenlargementandGod supernaturallyblesseduswith acustom builthomeinAnderson,SouthCarolina inoneofthemostsoughtafter subdivisions.

Onedaywehadfiftydollarsbetweenus andthenextdayGodblesseduswith thousandstopurchaseoneofmydream homes.ItiscalledTheDwellingPlace. Ourfirsthomeministryhouse.

Hehasbeensofaithfultous.Wehaveto walkafaithwalklife,weknownoother way.

TOXIC PEOPLE

Thereseemstobeanoutbreakofadiseasethatisspreadingworsethanebola,ithasa moredebilitatingeffectthanthedeteriorationofcancer.

Ithasdestroyedmorelivesthanaids,itsomewhatworksliketermites,itisnotuntilafter

Ithasdoneitsdamage,thatareyouevenawaretheywerethere,yetsomesee,butcan’tidentify whatitis.

Thiswasdonenottospreadthistoxicdeadlydisease,andtowarnothersaboutthefactthereis aleperamongyou.

Becauseoftheextraordinarygreatness oftherevelations,forthisreason,tokeep mefromexaltingmyself,therewasgiven tomeathornintheflesh,amessengerof Satantotormentme tokeepmefrom exaltingmyself.ConcerningthisIpleaded withtheLordthreetimes thatitmightleaveme.2Corinthians 12:7-8NASB

I’vealwayswantedtoknowwhatwasthe “thorn”thatPaulaskedGodtoremove fromhim.Theonlyinsightthathegives usisthatitwasamessengerofSatanto tormentandkeephimfromexalting himself.Inotherwords,itwasusedasa realitychecktokeepPaulhumble.To serveasaconstantreminderthathis extraordinarypersonalencounterswith Jesus,andtheeffectivenessofhis ministrywasbecauseofGod,andGod alone.

Perhapswewerenottoldwhatthe “thornintheflesh”wassothatitwould beeasierforustocompareittoany difficultieswemayexperienceonthis journeyinlifewithChrist.The“thorn intheflesh”caneasilybecomparedto physicalailments,mentalillness,ora long-standingtrialortribulationinour lives..

Maybeyou’veexperiencedoneofthese situationsinyourlifeandyoutried everythingyouknowtodo.You’vefasted, andspenthoursprayingandstayingin theWord,butGodhasnotremovedthe “thorn”fromyourlife.

YoumayfeeltemptedtobelieveGodis notansweringyourprayerbecause you’redoingsomethingwrong.Allowme toremindyouofthestoryofJob.God wastheonewhobroughtJobtoSatan’s attention;“HaveyouconsideredMy servantJob?Forthereisnoonelikehim ontheearth,ablamelessandupright man,fearingGodandturningawayfrom evil.”(Job1:8).DespiteJob’sfaithfulness, GodgivesSatanpermissiontotesthim throughlossandsickness.

The“thorn”maystillbepresent.Even more“thorns”mayappear,butmyfriend, becomfortedinknowingthatGodisnot ignoringyou.Hehearsyourprayerandis awareofyourdiscomfort.Infact,the consistentpresenceofthe“thorn(s)”is evidenceofGod’sanswertoyourprayer. YoucanfindHisanswerin2nd Corinthians12:9(NASB). ”Mygraceis sufficientforyou,forMystrengthis madeperfectinweakness.”

AschildrenofGod,responsesshouldbe asimmediate,enlightened,and optimisticasPaul’s“Mostgladly, therefore,Iwillratherboastaboutmy weaknesses,sothatthepowerofChrist maydwellinme.Therefore,Idelightin weaknesses,ininsults,indistresses,in persecutions,indifficulties,onbehalfof Christ;forwhenIamweak,thenIam strong.”

Ijustrecentlylistenedtoapodcastwhere Paul’sresponseisreferredtoasa “spiritualshift”. Here,weseeashiftin Paul’sfocusandattitudetowardsthe thorn.

MysistersandbrothersinChrist,the HolySpiritledPaultosharehis experiencewiththemforareason.When weexperiencespecialencounterswith Christbywayofmiracles,signs,wonders, orevensuccess,thewayourfleshisset up,itiseasytobecomeboastfulandtake creditforGod’swork.Wetendtoforget thatwearejustavessel-sosometimes, Godwillallowthese“thorns”.

“Thorns”canalsoserveasalightintoour heartsandmotives.“Thorns”testour faith.

WillwegiveuponservingtheLord becauseHedoesnotremovethethorn, orwillweremainfaithfulandfollowthe examplesofJob,Paul,andmanyothersin theBible?

Don’tforgetthesewordsthatJesus HimselfsaidtoFatherGodinLuke22:42 Father,“ifYouarewilling,removethis cupfromMe…”EvenJesusaskedFather Godtoremovethepain,butinthesame sentenceHegoesontosay,“YetnotMy will,butYoursbedone.”Amen.

ThinkaboutthesufferingJesusdidon thecrossforyouandme!Acrownof thornswasliterallyplacedonHishead! The“thorns”weexperienceinlifedonot comparewiththetormentandtorture thatJesuswentthroughonourbehalf.

Thesadtruthis,somanyfallaway becauseGoddoesnotremovethe “thorn”. Failingtoacceptorunderstand thatGodistheIAMandHeisincontrol andprotectoroverall.Eveninourtrials andtribulations,Godisstillintervening onourbehalf.Manyaskthequestion, “WhywouldGodallowthistohappento me?”Consideringtheincreasingly destructivestateofthisworld,manydo notunderstandthatwearestillina phaseofGod’sgraceandmercy.

Godsays,“Mygraceissufficientfor you...WhatdoesHemeanbythis?Grace isanundeservedfavor.Despiteour imperfections,God'sgraceis demonstratedineverybreaththatwe breathe.God'sgraceis demonstratedinthestrengththatHe givesustoendurethe“thorn(s)”onour lifejourney.

:Mystrengthismadeperfectin weakness.ForwhenIamweak,through ChristIamstrong.”Thefactthatwecan continuewithourGod-givenassignment, whileexperiencingdifficultiesinlife,isa demonstrationofstrengththatcomes fromGodalone.

Haveyoueverexperiencedthe supernaturalstrengthofGod?

Whenyouwereatyourwitsend.Youfelt asifyoucouldnottakeitanymore.You wantedto giveup.Youwerefinewiththethoughtof beingmissinginaction.Butsomehow andsomeway,youwereabletomakethat engagement.Youwereabletoworkthat shift.Youwereabletoenduretheabuse andstillhandleyourresponsibilitiesasa parent,employee,orbusinesspartner. Mentallyandphysicallydrained,you wereabletoteachtheSundaySchool lessonorpreachthatsermon.You understandthatitwasonlybyGod’s powerthatyouwereabletocome throughinthosesituations.So,when peoplewhoknewwhatyou weregoingthroughaskedyouhowyou didit.Youwereabletopointthem straighttoChrist.

Paul’stestimonyaboutthe“thorninthe flesh”bringsawarenessand encouragementtothosesuffering.A reminderthatGodallowsthe“thorn”in yourlifetofulfillHispurpose,through you.

“Thorns”arepainful,someeven torturous,butwhenweallowtheHoly SpirittoshiftourfocustoGodwhowill providethehelpweneed,onlythencan wesuccessfullyfulfillourGoddesignedpurpose.

JesussaysinMatthew11:29-30“Takemy yokeuponyouandlearnfromme, becauseIamlowlyandhumbleinheart, andyouwillfindrestforyoursouls.For myyokeiseasyandmyburdenislight” Paulfollowsupwiththisstatementin 2ndCorinthians4:17,“Forour momentary,lightafflictionisproducing forusaneternalweightofgloryfar beyondallcomparison…”.
