GENERAL CAMPS

Welcome to BGC Kawarthas General Camps

All programs will include a mix of indoor games, outdoor play, creative arts and crafts, science and technology. All Camps will have the opportunity to play on the Splash Pad throughout the week of camp.

General Camps: $177.50/week ($35.50/day)

Early Care: $11/Day – (6:30-8:00 am Includes Breakfast)

Licensed Summer Child Care (3.8 to 5 years of age)

AMAZING MITES CAMP

4-6 yrs

Is your child ready to explore a new challenge? Amazing Mites campers will have the opportunity to build new friendships and create incredible memories by participating in an exciting camp filled with activities, games, sports, crafts, outdoor play, and spirit days. Amazing Mites Campers will get to use the Splash Pad daily and will visit local parks.

SUPER CAMP

Super campers will have the opportunity to build friendships and develop new skills through a variety of programs including: sports, technology, cooking, arts, games and skill development sessions. Our Super Camp participants will have weekly outings to local parks, as well as swimming at Lindsay Recreation Complex. Super Camp participants will use the Club’s Splash Pad throughout the week as well.

XTREME CAMP

10-12 yrs

Challenge yourself to a new camp experience this year with new programs! X-Treme Camp will provide opportunities to build new friendships, learn new skills and experience unique opportunities. Campers will participate in outdoor adventure on the Club’s new Low Ropes course, swimming at the Lindsay Rec Centre, outings to local parks and provincial parks throughout the summer.

Leader in Training (LIT)

13-15 yrs

Cost: $50 *Fee only applies to successful candidates accepted into the program. The Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program provides teens with the opportunity to take part in summer camp in a capacity that shapes them into potential leaders. The program consists of leadership training, and ‘on the job’ experience in all aspects of summer camp. They will learn what a successful and positive camp leader is and contribute to the day to day camp environment. The LIT program prepares teens to take leadership roles in and out of camp. Successful LIT’s will earn volunteer hours and may have the opportunity to apply to work at camp in the future once 16 years of age.

Must attend Minimum of 4 Weeks in camp and 4 Training/Teambuilding Sessions all summer.

SURF N’ TURF CAMP ($275)

Welcome to Surf n’ Turf! This camp will combine swim activities such as water polo, underwater hockey and swimming, plus sailing on Sturgeon Lake. In addition, we will be offering a variety of turf sports such as rugby, football, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee. You want to get active? This is the one for you!

BASEBALL CAMP ($250)

It’s time to step to the plate and become a five-tool player. Our Baseball Camp is designed to teach the fundamental skills to playing baseball through individual, small group and team activities. This camp will include skill development, games, and also includes a trip to the Jays Game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. All levels of experience are welcome.

SURVIVOR CAMP

Ready to learn about the outdoors and how to survive in the wilderness? Survival camp in partnership with Fleming College will provide an incredible learning experience. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of survival skills including shelter building, tracking, plants, fire and safety. You will leave this camp ready for your wilderness challenge.

MUSIC CAMP ($250)

Have you always wanted to learn to play the guitar? Write lyrics? Our music camp will provide you with the opportunity to learn from artists like Warren Frank of the bands The Kents and Heaps. BGC Music Camp will provide opportunities to learn instruments, prepare and perform lyrics using our state-ofthe-art recording studio. We can provide the instruments and all you need to have an incredible music experience.

BASKETBALL CAMP ($225)

Spend the week learning from local coaches and athletes. Practice your skills through drills, activities, small area games. Campers will develop their shooting, passing, dribbling and game strategies. The end of the week will include an outdoor tournament for all participants to showcase their skills.

ART CAMP ($275)

Art camp provides a unique opportunity to try different types of art in a fun and creative way. Campers will use their imagination and creativity while utilizing paint, fabric, sketching, collaging, and crafting skills. Campers will display their art at the week-end Art show and will take home their designs to keep. Guest instructors will support campers each day to develop their unique designs.

DISCOVERY LAB & SWIM ($275)

Discovery Lab engages kids in science concepts through an interactive curriculum that connects science to real world contexts. The program focuses on hands-on experiments, increases understanding of scientific approaches, and creates opportunities for problem-solving, idea refinement, and interactive learning. This week also includes daily onehour swim lessons through Lindsay Recreation Complex.

Do you have a camper who is ready to try out some of BGC Kawarthas specialty camps? In this exciting week our Amazing Mites campers will participate in a variety of sports and arts-based programming. With an emphasis on fun and participation, campers will learn and practice the basics of a variety of sports including: soccer, basketball, ball hockey as well as arts: dance, and visual arts.

ADVENTURE CAMP ($250)

Time to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself to new experiences. Outdoor Adventure camp will provide you with a variety of challenges and excitement including Indoor Rock Climbing, Outdoor Low Ropes, and team building. Get ready to challenge yourself in this exciting adventure week.

KID FOOD NATION ($275)

Kid Food Nation helps kids develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking. Our program will feature cooking lessons from a variety of facilitators and access to an online hub with resources for healthy eating and meal preparation, and food and kitchen safety. Campers will also have the chance to participate in a national recipe competition that encourages kids to put their food literacy skills into practice and submit original, healthy, and nutritious recipes.

SOCCER CAMP ($250)

We are excited to offer an exciting week within our Soccer Camp. Our program will include outdoor soccer skills and games, including indoor soccer. Campers will have the opportunity to develop ball control, shooting, passing and goaltending skills through activities and small area games. Each day, campers will have the chance to learn skills and apply those skills in game-like situations facilitated by instructors that support all skill levels.

GOLF CAMP ($275)

Do you want to improve your game or try it for the first time? Either way, this camp will fit your needs. Campers will have three halfday sessions with local golf pros at a local golf course to develop their play from the tee to the green. Campers will have one full day on course applying the skills they have learned. All skill levels are welcome and clubs will be provided for those in need. This camp is FORE you!

This exciting week will expose kids to beach and indoor volleyball. Campers will learn the fundamental skills of volleyball including serving, passing, setting, blocking and hitting. Campers will learn from local instructors and while attending daily one-hour swim lessons through Lindsay Recreation Complex.

DANCE CAMP ($275)

Spend an exciting week learning from a variety of great dance instructors and dancers from across the Kawarthas. Campers will learn the latest moves in jazz, ballet, contemporary and hip hop. Dancers will become choreographers and performers as you prepare for an exciting recital at the end of the week! All levels of experience are welcome.

SKATEBOARD/ SCOOTER & SWIM CAMP

We are excited to offer our Skateboard and Scooter Camp this summer. Campers will get the opportunity to use the new outdoor skatepark. Develop your skills on your board and in the park with instructors to improve your skateboarding and scooter skills. This week also includes daily swim lessons at the Lindsay Recreation complex.

KID TECH NATION ($250)

Kid Tech Nation teaches children digital skills, coding concepts, internet safety, computational thinking, and robotics. The program also focuses on engaging young people in technology that they may not have otherwise been exposed to in Science Technology Engineering Math (S.T.E.M.) fields. Campers will have the opportunity to learn circuitry with MAKEY MAKEY as well as Wonder and Mindstorm robots.

HOCKEY CAMP ($350)

Campers will be challenged with 10 hours of on-ice instruction plus dryland training. Our program will be broken into 2 groups (Local League & Representative level) that will provide a challenge for all levels. Professional Instructors will challenge players to increase their speed, agility, edgework, puck control, shooting and overall knowledge of the game. This is a great way to get ready for the upcoming season.

At BGC Kawarthas we take pride in providing an exciting summer experience! Our programs are designed to promote our core values of Belonging, Respect, Encouragement & Support, Working Together and Speaking Out.

Our Lindsay facility was designed uniquely for children and youth: Computers, Theatre, Games Room, Craft Room (sponsored by Crayola), Outdoor Splash Pad, Security doors, 3 Gymnasiums, Teaching Kitchen, Indoor Rock Climbing, Low Ropes Course, Air-Conditioned Facility, Music Studio, On-site Playground, Beach Volleyball and Basketball Court & Outdoor Skateboard Park.

Our Staff

Camp Staff are certified in CPR/First Aid and trained in Trauma Informed Approach for children in addition to intensive training and screening to ensure the highest quality program. We are an accredited organization with HIGH FIVE (a quality assurance program implemented by Parks and Recreation Ontario) for 20 years. Our staff are trained in HIGH FIVE’s Principles of Healthy Child Development. HIGH FIVE is committed to ensuring that every participant has a positive recreation experience. Our Training Program Includes: Program planning and development, program implementation, supervision, sun safety, behavioral management systems, emergency response, health and safety, communication, quality assurance and more.

Inclusion and Integration:

BGC is committed to the inclusion of all campers. Please make us aware of any special requirements for medication, mobility, or behaviour, or of other resources your child may need to participate at the time of registration. The more informed we are, the better service we can provide.

REGISTRATION

Registration or cancellation must be completed by noon the Friday prior to service. This provides us the time to reach out to our waiting list to fill your spot or to adjust staffing based on ratios

Full payment is required upon registration. Refunds are subject to 15% administration fee. Our Foundation provides financial assistance to ensure that no child is turned away.
