The Messenger can report that the ever youthful James Astley celebrated his 90th birthday with a wild party at Elmwood, Poynton on August 31st 2014. His sons and all the family were there to confirm his title as the best multi-tasking dad ever who flew Tiger Moths during the war, built a newsagent into a community icon, treated thousands with dicky feet, captured classic poses with his art and lead many community projects in recent years in addition to being a great dad and husband.
