Hanham Hall‘s first birthday is marked with visit from the boss

Sales at the development in South Gloucestershire have exceeded targets, with more than 40 homes sold and 16 reservations made for properties which have yet to be constructed. Launched last summer, the project is due for completion in March 2015, by which time it will feature 185 energy-efficient homes, (one to five bedrooms) with the Grade II listed Hanham Hall its centrepiece, providing community and business space.

Eco-friendly features include rainwater-harvesting systems, plus a high level of airtightness and insulation. AS Cotswold Homes puts the last of the “reserved” signs on the 13 detached homes it has built at The Bridge in Oldland Common, the firm made a reservation of its own. It booked a table for dinner for two at exclusive Italian restaurant, San Carlo in Bristol’s Corn Street. This was the competition prize on offer to visitors at the recent opening of a show home on the Victoria Road development in South Gloucestershire. The winners were Robert Warr and his wife Barbara, who live in Keynsham, and had visited the show home three times. Although they didn’t manage to snap up one of the new homes on offer, Barbara explained: “It’s a beautiful development and we were very impressed by the style and quality of

all the finishes. The interior of the view home was immaculate.” And Robert said: “We particularly fell in love with the atrium and the big open space of the kitchen/diner with its best-quality SMEG appliances.” Cotswold Homes is now preparing to launch another show home, this time in Clevedon at its Horizon development, which comprises just five, four-bedroom houses designed in keeping with the Victorian architecture of the North Somerset town. HERE can be few address in Horfield with quite the level of prestige, amount of space on offer, or, indeed, such a good quality outlook – which constitutes a view over Monks Park and playing fields. That’s not to mention the location close to that retail Mecca, Gloucester Road, where independent shops rub along nicely with trendy and quirky cafes, bars and restaurants. This street (the A38) is also a main artery into the city, and out in the opposite direction to the motorway network and Parkway station. But what of the house itself ? Well, it’s big but not brash, it’s modern but has character, and has been finished in a neutral style. A largish, garden,
