On packaging the diamond in the centre acts as a window to the product underneath. The mark also spells out ZO, the Bhutanese word for the ability to make something.

An essential part of Bhutan’s cultural heritage are the thirteen traditional crafts that were formally categorized during the reign of the fourth temporal ruler of Bhutan. The Bhutanese word for craft is zorig; zo refers to the ability to make something, and rig is the product.
The Handcrafted in Bhutan project is designed to connect local Bhutanese artisans to a global marketplace, thus bringing social and commercial benefits to these communities. The project focuses on storytelling and hopes to sell craft not as objects but via stories and ideologies.

Traditional Bhutanese techniques are used to imagine modern and contemporary products. For example, a laptop sleeve might utilize the crafts of textile weaving, tailoring and ornament casting. Variations on the same product can bamboo weavings or cloth painting. This approach can be applied to a wide range of products, including bags, stationary, home decor and accessories.
The website is the main showcase for the product range. It celebrates the natural landscape and beauty of Bhutan and features video stories on craft techniques and artisans involved in the creation of each product, emphasising the story of production and not just the final result.
