At the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, we encourage growth, inspire confidence, and provide the framework for lasting memories and friendships. We provide quality programs that are age-appropriate, fun, and safe. Our camp is imbued with a sense of Simcha (joy), Kehila (community), Ruach (spirit), and Kef (fun). Throughout all of our programs, we encourage discovery and self-expression.
The MJCC welcomes everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.

Many of our camp staff return to us year after year, and our campers are excited to see their favorite counselors each summer.
Registration
Camp registrations for each week are accepted through Thursday of the previous week. We make every effort to accommodate late registrations after Thursday. Call 971.254.8332 for any late registrations.

Simcha, Kehila, + Ruach campers
Kehila + Ruach campers
Classic camp includes sports, swimming, cooking, Jewish culture, drama, nature, and arts + crafts. Campers often stay with the same counselor throughout the summer, providing a sense of consistency and helping to keep campers feeling safe and comfortable. Classic camp has a different theme each week! Campers create crafts, play games, and do activities that revolve around the theme. See pages 14 - 15 for the themes. We go outdoors as often as possible, but have the opportunity to stay indoors as well. All Classic campers swim, gather for a daily song circle, and celebrate Shabbat on Fridays. Each week closes with a special Friday Funday!
Our half-day (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) Specialty camps focus on specific activities such as painting, cooking, and sports. Blended with traditional camp activities, your camper will have quality hands-on time with their chosen specialty.
Weekly: June 22 - August 21
Weekly: June 22 - August 21
Extend your day with our Specialty Combo program, offering a full-day from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Does not include swimming.
Age groups for classic and specialty Simcha (ages 3 - 5 years)
Even our smallest campers want to have fun and explore. Camp can be challenging for preschoolers just as they have gotten their routine down at school or at home, they are in a new environment, doing new things. We recognize this and work to give our Simcha campers some extra TLC. Simcha introduces kids to camp, promoting fun, friendship, and life skills. Experiences will encourage your child to make new friends, build social skills, develop team work, inspire imagination, and foster creativity. Options for enhanced focuses throughout the day include tumbling, soccer, dance, basketball, art, and more! Campers swim every morning in our Warm Water Pool. Two of the days, campers participate in guided swim, including floating, kicking, body position, water safety, and underwater skills. Three of the days, campers will have open swim. All Simcha campers will be required to wear life jackets. See pages 12 - 13 for more details about swimming. Simcha provides a well-rounded foundation for the future. With smaller camper-to-counselor ratios, experienced counselors, structured activities, purposeful play, and naptime option, we aim to balance the needs and interests of each child.
8
Kehila (Grades 1 - 2)
Kehila engages campers in a wide variety of ageappropriate activities within a well-planned and structured format. Campers are encouraged to try new things, work as a team, think outside the box, and be creative. We promote curiosity, persistence, and self-control. Campers will gain self-confidence and adaptability, all while having fun and making new friends.
Ruach (Grades 3 - 4)
Tailored to their growing interests and activity levels, Camp Ruach promotes social skills, adaptability, and self-confidence. Campers are encouraged to collaborate and co-create with one another in an environment that promotes positivity and growth. We strive to instill accountability, initiative, and creativity and provide campers with the support to try new things and explore new interests.
CIT
Grades 5 - 6
Counselors in Training | Grades 7 - 10
Calendar
This leadership development program is designed to empower teens by offering new responsibilities, challenges, and adventures including working with younger campers and team-building. CITs will gain real life experience and skills that will teach them how to be positive mentors and leaders. CITs will work closely with trained and experienced staff in a fun, fast-paced setting; participate and help lead in team spirit; and create and run their own activities. Our CIT program is a great stepping stone for youth and gets them ready for enhanced responsibilities. Many of our CITs go on to become camp counselors or land their first job, and they thank their CIT experience!
Swimming
Camp Kef offers our oldest campers more adventures throughout the week that will allow for exploration and discovery. We aim to foster valuable life skills with Kef campers, such as, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. Campers have the opportunity to work as a team and build independence, all while having “Kef (fun)!
