One important reason why Bay Harbor Yacht Club is so delightful is Kathleen Muneio. She’s been the Club’s general manager for more than 25 years, and her affection for the place and its people is evident. “The members are wonderful,” she says. “This place is all about relationships.” Her voice is warm, her self-assured manner the result of long experience in a job she loves. When asked to describe her role, Muneio replies, “to work with the Commodore and all the others on our team to create an outstanding experience for our members and their guests.” A typical day begins when Muneio greets the kids who gather for the Club’s early morning programs. She likes to get to know them and to listen to what they have
“Bay Harbor is an incredible destination where in addition to deep water boating, you and your family can enjoy all of the amenities one would expect from the best in private clubs.”
to say. Later, she visits all of the Club’s restaurants to ensure everything is running smoothly — and to greet diners and hear what they have to say. She’s determined to be familiar with everything that’s happening at the Club — seemingly all at the same moment. She works in her office in the afternoon and often spends evenings supervising Yacht Club events. Muneio also serves as the Yacht Club’s chief operating officer. She works closely with the Club’s board of directors, and all Club department heads report to her. Together with her staff, she’s committed to maintaining and improving Bay Harbor’s unique lifestyle. Muneio collaborates with other Bay Harbor and area organizations to support this goal.
“The members are wonderful. This place is all about relationships.” Overall, she’s responsible for every detail, however large or small, in the smooth operation of the Bay Harbor Yacht Club. Muneio is truly devoted to her job. As she says, “I’m lucky to be here” — it seems the Club is lucky too. Muneio and her husband, Bob, live on a farm in Charlevoix with their two horses and bernadoodle, Bella. They enjoy volunteering for various local charities, traveling, and spending time with their family, including son Mike. 31
