Form Study

The assignment was to create a 1m long selfsupporting bridging between two points. The pieces of the structure are to fit in a 9x9 cm cube. The pieces shall not be connected by glue, other materials were free to use.

I aimed to create the lightest triangular linear structure possible. I’ve connected the wooden pieces with wire so they form triangles and tetrahedra. Through the linear stacking of regular tetrahedra I’ve created a light structure called a “Boerdijk–Coxeter” helix.
