PHASE III 1:18 SCALE FORD XY FALCON GTHO PHASE III IN FROSTED PEWTER We are really pleased to be able to present the opportunity to place your orders for the new 1:18 Scale Ford XY Falcon GTHO Phase III in the unusually beautiful colour scheme of Frosted Pewter. In 1971 Ford Australia released a Falcon which would not only become the most iconic car produced by the blue brand in Australia, but perhaps the most iconic car in Australian motoring history.

The Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III was, and arguably still is, the ultimate Australian muscle car. With a unique high output 351 cubic inch V8 that propelled the XY to a quarter mile time of under 14.5 seconds, this car was definitely ahead of its time and could push significantly more expensive European sports cars to their limit.

Combining this with a striking palette of colours, GT stripes, decals and the instantly recognisable aggressive air intake protruding through the bonnet, the Ford XY Falcon GTHO was, and still is an extremely special car to own. With only 300 genuine XY GTHO Phase III’s being produced, it is one of Australia’s most replicated cars, often being copied by enthusiasts less fortunate to own a genuine Phase III. This is a fine model produced by Autoart of an iconic Australian car.

APRIL UPDATE A very big hello to all of our stores and collectors. I am writing this just after the release of the 1994 Bathurst Winner and I have to say that I am extremely happy with how this model has been received. Everyone seems quite happy with this item and it has been extremely popular so hopefully it will remain a much sought after collectable for years to come, and is a fair indication that confidence in the Australian Diecast market is starting to improve.

This month we are releasing a new 1:18 Scale Ford XY Falcon GTHO Phase III in Frosted Pewter which has been produced by Autoart. This model is exceptional, and I think the paint job is fantastic. It is currently scheduled for a May release and with only 840 units being produced.

We think this is going to be quite a popular item, so make sure you don’t miss out and get your orders in for this great model, and it’s still only $195.00rrp.

Many of our collectors have been crying out for 1:43 scale models recently, so this month we have two new 1:43 scale HSV’s to show you and a really interesting 1:43rd that was announced some time ago in the form of the 1978 Hardie Ferodo 1000 Official Track Car which you can find on page 5. In recent times, order numbers for 1:43 scale models haven’t been fantastic, so to ensure this is a scale we can continue to produce, please remember that it is really important to place your orders.

The recent announcement of our new “Project VN” has been greeted with a lot of positive feedback and we are pleased to be able to show you a few development shots of this model that have recently arrived.

DEVELOPMENT PICS - 1:18 SCALE HOLDEN VN SS GROUP A We recently received some new images of the solid pattern stage for the 1:18 Scale VN group A project and we are very pleased to be able to show some of them to you in this months newsletter. There are quite a few issues that we have spotted already that needs to be addressed and the front end in particular needs to be reworked with this version. Despite its current flaws though, you can certainly see that the base is there and the development for this project is well and truly underway.

New Announcement: 1:43 Scale HSV Y Series GTS Sedan - Phantom Black

LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 500 PIECES

WORLD CLASS PHANTOM GTS In September 2002, Holden released a brand new incarnation of its Holden Commodore in the form of the VY series, which would replace the previous VX range. The styling of the new range, featured more angular headlights, taillights and a completely revised front grill in comparison with the previous model.

While Holden were busy releasing their new player to the Australian automobile industry, HSV were producing their range of spine tingling performance machines based on the new base Holden VY template.

HSV labeled this new range of models as the Y Series which was quite a canny marketing move and one that illustrated HSV’s desire to further set their models apart from those produced by Holden. With their new range of Y Series vehicles, HSV’s main goal was to ensure a better driving experience and sophisticated styling that would easily compete with luxury imported brands such as BMW. The Y Series included a range of different vehicle options for buyers, but the most ferocious option which attracted the most attention from HSV fans was definitely the new GTS. The Y Series GTS was released in time to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the GTS Sedan and the new 4-door model with it’s aggressive styling and improved handling looked very appealing indeed.

The GTS was powered by a 300KW V8 engine that had numerous HSV performance additions to enhance the package including HSV cylinder heads, valve springs, valves, throttle body, manifold and injectors. This combined with the new tuned exhaust system including stainless steel extractors and headers created a beast that was capable of running a quarter mile in 13 seconds flat.

The exterior was nothing short of stunning either. The car sits on impressive 19-inch Magnesium rims, with the HSV, GTS and 300 badges combining with the aerodynamic body kit to let the world know that this car was a force to be reckoned with.

New Announcement: 1:43 Scale HSV Y Series Senator Signature - Martini

LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 500 PIECES

THE HSV THAT IS ALL CLASS The release of the new Y Series range of performance vehicles around 2002 by HSV saw various vehicles released, each with its own sense of style and purpose. There were models produced for the rev-head at heart in the form of stable names like the Clubsport, GTS and the Maloo with each of those models easily packing a formidable punch in terms of performance, styling and value for money. While these models looked like the ultimate sports machines, HSV also included the luxurious Senator and Senator Signature in the range for the driver wanting to take their time with the drive rather then getting there in record time!

A key focus in the development and production of the Senator and the Senator Signature was to provide a luxury grand tourer that looked a little more subtle then the more sporty looking GTS and Clubsport. In addition to this, the Senator and the Senator Signature needed to be able to match the luxury European imports in terms of styling and performance while outperforming them for value for money - something which these models were able to achieve.

This particular Senator Signature model has been produced in the subtler colour scheme of Martini, which contrasts brilliantly against one of this ranges most recognisable features, the huge 19 inch wheels. The design of the wheels, front bumper, back wing and its colour all combine nicely to illustrate those subtle differences between this luxury model and the other sports vehicles in the range.

The luxurious differences are made even more apparent when looking at the interior of this model. The interior is decked out in Light Shale leather which is complimented with a brushed alloy dash surround. Under the bonnet, the 260KW V8 and HSV’s commitment to further enhancing the performance and handling was evident when driving this car, with many reporters applauding the Senator Signature’s ability to grip to the road.

BMW M3 1988 ATCC - DRIVER: PETER BROCK OPENING BONNET!

Following the 1987 season team boss Frank Gardner decided to retire from motor racing at the age of 57. When Gardner retired he effectively shut down operations of JPS Team BMW. 1987 also saw the famous split between Holden and Brock. With Gardner putting the JPS team on the market, and with Brock in search of a new manufacturer to partner with, the JPS BMW team assets, including the teams M3s were then sold to Peter Brock who ran them in the colours of Mobil in 1988. Brock’s team also took over as the factory supported BMW team in Australia.

Brock was joined by former teammate Jim Richards for the 1988 campaign. However, by this time the M3 was no longer competitive in the shorter sprint races of the ATCC against the high powered Ford Sierra RS500. At the first round of the championship at Calder Park the duo raced under appeal and ended up forfeiting their prize money and championship points due to an issue over air filters and fuel injection air measuring devices. Their season didn’t really improve, with Richards finishing the championship in fourth and Brock finishing sixth.

The beautifully decorated Brock Mobil BMW M3 as driven in the ATCC will be produced with an opening bonnet by AutoArt for Biante. It is available to order now from your local Biante dealer.

1987 ATCC WINNER - DRIVER: JIM RICHARDS OPENING BONNET!

Having won the ATCC in 1985 with the BMW 635 CSi, 1986 saw the introduction of new, more powerful competition in the form of the VK Commodore, Nissan Skyline DR30’s and the Volvo 240T. BMW needed a solution, and it came in the form of the mighty M3.

Driven by Jim Richards and Tony Longhurst, JPS Team BMW built two of the high-revving, 2.3 litre, 4cyl BMW M3 for a full assault on the 1987 Australian Touring Car Championship.

After a tight struggle with the Nissan Skyline’s of George Fury and Glenn Seton, which went down to the last race at Oran Park, Richards emerged victorious with four wins from the nine rounds.

This model, featuring an opening bonnet, will be produced by Autoart for Biante and will form part of the Biante Motor Racing Legends collection. It is available to order now from your local Biante dealer.

A DIFFERENT TYPE OF COBRA ADD SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO YOUR BATHURST COLLECTION WITH THIS OFFICIAL 1978 HARDIE FERODO 1000 TRACK CAR

The Ford XC Cobra is perhaps one of the most famous and easily identifiable muscle cars ever produced. With its snow white paint job blue racing stripes and cobra decals, this was a car that would never be mistaken and has been idolised by motoring enthusiasts ever since.

Interestingly enough, the Ford XC Cobra was created due to an excess in XC models being available at the time which weren’t selling that well. The idea to paint them in the now iconic Cobra scheme came from the great grandson of Henry Ford, Edsel Ford II who was, at the time, the assistant manager of Ford Australia. His idea was to paint the excess cars in a similar way to what many American race cars were using at the time.

The 400 coupes were painted white and the blue stripes were added or in the case of the versions that already had the bold blue paint job, the stripes were masked out and a coat of white was painted over the top.

Ford Australia sent these new Cobras to their premium Ford dealers around the country and the results were nothing short of remarkable. The new paint job on these coupes were an instant hit and they were snapped up relatively quickly by extremely enthusiastic buyers.

While the XC Cobra was a popular road car and relatively famous on the

race track, driven by the likes of Ford Icon Allan Moffat, it also served the very important role of the Official Track Car at the 1978 Hardie Ferodo 1000.

There were reportedly 7 or 8 versions of this Track Car present during the 1978 running of the Great Race performing official duties. While the iconic Cobra colour scheme is still present, additions such as the lighting rack on the roof and track car decoration ensured that this car could grab your attention when it was needed.
