ABSTRACT Willing to be developed as a final theses work, the conservation and restoration of Eduardo Aragão’s painting from 1967, “Quadro c”, belonged the Pampulha Art Museum collection, has been permeated by preliminary studies and analysis allowing the practice of teaching/learning of several procedures that concerns the conservative-restorer profession. During the work, a discussion about intervention criteria and this very artwork’s characteristics under the Art History’s perspective was developed to recognize the materiality and valorises the aspects of its visuality. Therefore, it was possible to recognize its peculiarities as a Modern and Contemporary Art Painting, demarcating the respect of its historicity and the essential conservation-restoration demands of its artistic aspects.
