All About ReseARch & Development BBB has the fortunate coincidence to be based in the Netherlands. A small country with more bikes than inhabitants. Saying cycling is part of our lives would be a gross understatement, cycling is simply in our blood. This profound understanding of cycling is one of the most important factors in our vision and drive to create better cycling products for any kind of cyclist. Everyone at BBB rides bikes on a nearly daily basis.

If a prototype is not ready for production, it simply doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t get introduced and is further improved until ready for real world usage. This leads to products that survive when being put through the grind by our product testers or mounted on the bikes of pros in the international racing circuit. The final results are good and no nonsense. They simply perform like theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re meant to do. Traits that are as much part of the general Dutch state of mind as they are of the DNA of BBB.

all about team vacansoleil-dcm Before the Tour the France 2011 you might have wondered “who the hell are these guys?”. Most of the riders of team Vacansoleil-DCM aren’t household names. But with their streetfighter’s mentality they joined in virtually every attack in the opening week. And of course Johnny Hoogerland’s highly-documented dramatic crash and subsequent struggle to get into the polka dotted jersey, they have now well and truely found a place in the heart of cycling aficionados. This relatively new team have exploded onto the scene this year. Therefore BBB is very proud to have been part of

Team Vacansoleil-DCM since 2010. The raw energy coming from such a young team that’s determined to show themselves in every possible way can only function as an inspiriation. Victories, long escapes, podium places and several days in the Tour’s mountain jersey are testament to how this team of young guns are determined to show that they are worthy of their place in the World Tour. In 2012 BBB will continue to be official supplier of Team Vacansoleil-DCM with helmets, sport glasses, bags, tools, pumps, light sets and fenders.

Years in which Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini managed to win three World Championships (Boonen in 2005 and Bettini in 2006 and 2007). all about team cofidis Although team Cofidis isn’t a World Tour team anymore, the team has an excellent track record in the Pro peloton. The team is not only based and operated out of France and has a special focus on French riders and races, but will occasionally shows itself in other races end with ‘foreign’ riders. David Moncoutie won the mountain jersey in the Vuelta d’Espana and Estonian rider Rein Taaramae is considered one of the finest talents for the near future. BBB started working with team Cofidis

in 2007. This cooperation has provided both the team and BBB with a lot of valuable feedback and research data. A visit to the wind tunnel last march to finetune the aerodynamic design of our TriBase time trail and triathlon helmet is an excellent example of this. We started developing the Select with the idea of creating a pair of sport glasses that could be adapted to varying individual styles and tastes. We started out with a single-lens design for better perspective and protection, adding flexible temples to the mix for great fit and then we got creative. The end result is a pair of sport glasses that come in 1029 varieties. You can fine-tune the Select’s appearance by selecting the colors of your frame,

all about helmets If you think about it, there’s really only one thing that your BBB helmet should do really well. Ventilation, fit, comfort and even looks, all that stuff comes after we take care of building the most protective helmets we can create. That’s why we use our internal SpiderWeb structure with aluminum and carbon reinforcements. The new FlexClose system available on Falcon, Fenix, Everest and Moco helmets allows for an even more snug and easy to adjust fit. You wouldn’t

want to wear an uncomfortable helmet, would you? This year we’ll also be introducing a helmet style specifically for trailriders, the BBB Varallo. This design offers more protection surface at the back of the head while still being close in weight and ventilation to our XC helmets. Why do we go through all this trouble? Because we know that if one of our the pros or you hit the ground at maximum speed, you will not be commenting on how nice your helmet looks.

falcon: created by and for our pros We approached the design and development of our Falcon helmet as a project to create the ultimate helmet for the pros. We started out with an in-mold shell construction, added a SpiderWeb over the head structure, completed with internal carbon and aluminum reinforcements for optimal protection. Then we designed 23 air vents for a maximal flow of air through the helmet. Wrapping things up with our new FlexClose

adjustment system for the best fit available and washable anti-bacterial pads. The Falcon is available in red, blue, white and silver. And additionally as an official Team Edition of Team Quick-Step and Team Vacansoleil. Because when we put all our time and effort into creating the ultimate road helmet, these guys had no trouble whatsoever to wear it.

varallo - more protection, no disadvantages The initial idea for the Varallo helmet came from several directions. The trailriding moutainbikers at BBB demanded that we build them a helmet with more coverage. Some of the more fanatic trailriders in BBB offices around the globe confirmed our ideas, but mentioned that we shouldn’t compromise ventilation and weight and better keep those in line with our XC helmets. And then some of the riders started

mentioning that it shouldn’t break their bank account. A pretty challenging starting point for the design departement to begin. We started out with an in-mold shell construction extended over the back of your head for added protection. Pieced in 18 air vents with dedicated exit vents for a maximal flow of air through the helmet. Our tried and tested TwistClose system allows for

a quick and easy fit. Mesh on the forwardfacing vents keeps unwanted insects out and washable anti-bacterial pads keep your head fresh. All in all a package that is affordable enough to keep you on the trails and away from a desk.

Wicking moisture is the name of the game for BBB’s summer underwear. Wicking perspiration away from your skin before it has the chance to cool you down. Perspiration that remains on the skin will eventually make you feel cold, clammy, very unhappy and slow. Even when it’s warm outside.

Even more critical in colder environments than in summer. Cooling down too much due to perspiration staying close to your skin in lower outside temperatures happens quicker, faster and more severe. BBB’s winter underwear combines two main features. It keeps you nice and toasty for optimal comfort during exercise, at the same time it will wick moisture out towards the outer layers of your outfit away from your skin.

The CoolControl fabric will keep you dry and cool in even the warmest of temperatures, throught their construction the Cross-Section fibres offer a 28% extra surface area for added moisture wicking capabilities. In high-warmth areas designated fine mesh inserts provide superior ventilation. With the garments to be worn on the skin we wanted them to be as comfortable as possible and flatseamed all stitchings. All about 2012 For the new AluBoys we had to explore different materials for derailleur pulleys. The aluminum base material combined with ceramic bearings lead to a whole new level of low-resistance low-maintenance pulleys. A lighter weight was also the inspiration for an SPD-compatible pedal with titanium spindles leading to the ForceMount Ti pedal.

all about saddles For 2012 we have rethought our entire BBB saddle line and rearranged it accordingly. Now we can safely say we can offer a saddle for every cyclist out there, making it much easier to find the exact saddle that you need. The full range stretches out over three available subgroups and comes in either regular or anatomic shapes with a special female version available for some models. Saddles are grouped in either Race, Sport or Comfort. Race saddles are the ultimate in light weight and power transfer. Tuned for stiffness they

are obviously intended for riders that use padded bibs. Sport saddles are for riders that like to ride often, but donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t spend every waking hour in their saddle. Weight and comfort are in a happy medium, but still designed to be used with padded bibs. Our Comfort saddles are for use without a bib and offer the most comfortable seating for commuting to work or cruising down the street. New for this year are our high-end Arrow and Arrow Anatomic saddle. Ideal for road and competitive XC riding, it offers the lightest and most direct feel in the BBB line.

Suitable for both dry and wet weather with up to 30% more braking power. HP pads are resistant to high temperatures and have very little fading. Originally developed for professional riders, BBB now offers these to all levels of cyclists.
