THE DUST UP Welcome to The Dust Up - Full event coverage On Thursday 26th September Team BICSc welcomed close to 200 guests to The 2019 BICSc Annual Awards, Showcase & Exhibition at Whittlebury Park Hotel and Spa in the picturesque Northamptonshire. It was great to see over 75 members in attendance at the Showcase & Exhibition this year! Marketing & Events Executive, Michelle Iland hosted the Showcase, and kept guests entertained between keynotes, with some rather entertaining stories from her time working in housekeeping at a London 5 star hotel. We began with a lighter and brighter keynote, ‘Great at 58’, a nod to the Institute, and how far we have come since 1961! Delivered by Samantha Willson, Business Development Manager and Becca Logan, one of our Training Specialists. It was brought to life with a little music from the Spice Girls, and it definitely set the tone for the day.
Our Headline Sponsor, Citation covered the history of Health & Safety, lots of interesting facts there about where it all began and where we are now. Huddersfield University waxed lyrical about the benefits of a trained workforce, the University takes pride in training and rewarding all of their employees. You can even find their overarching strategy inside the cleaning cupboards! They also have graduation ceremonies for all of their cleaning operatives, sounds like a great place to work. Then it was over to Ian Hadley of Minster Cleaning Services, Ian talked about the benefits of being an Accredited Training Member! The Showcase concluded with a fascinating look at the control of cross contamination within a healthcare setting, delivered by the rather inspiring Dr Andrew Kemp who is now heading up the BICSc scientific research panel, they’ll be more to come from him in the coming months, watch this space.

THE DUST UP The Judging Panel said: “This year we received the largest number of entries to date. The commitment to BICSc standards continues to overwhelm us year on year. What’s even more important than the qualities of the finalists and winners, are the examples they set for others. By demonstrating the benefits and practicalities of BICSc standards and training, these organisations and individuals simply inspire others to aim higher within their own companies, driving improvement throughout the industry.”
