Big Bear Lake The freshwater lake is seven miles long and approximately one mile across at its widest point. Its average depth is 35 feet and there are over 22 miles of shoreline. Lake activities include fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, and boating.

Location Big Bear Lake, surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, is a mountain resort community located in San Bernardino County, 99 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

Environment Big Bear’s alpine environment is dominated by pine and oak forests. The area provides a natural habitat for wintering bald eagles and a wide variety of vegetation, including more than 20 wildflower species that are indigenous to the area.

FAIR WEATHER If you prefer lots of sunshine and mild to moderate temperatures, then Big Bear is your place. At an altitude of 7,000 feet, Big Bear’s 300+ days of sunshine each year guarantee no “June Gloom” here! Summer temperatures average 77 degrees during the day and 45 degrees at night. Winter brings about 120 inches of annual snowfall with temps in the mid-40s during the day and mid-20s at night.
