The freshwater lake is seven miles long and approximately one mile across at its widest point. Its average depth is 35 feet and there are over 22 miles of shoreline. Lake activities include fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, and boating.

Environment Big Bear’s alpine environment is dominated by pine and oak forests. The area provides a natural habitat for wintering bald eagles and a wide variety of vegetation, including more than 20 wildflower species that are indigenous to the area.
