LET IT SNOW,
S
tep into our enchanted winter wonderland and awaken your childlike wonder from its own hibernation. The forest becomes blanketed in fresh powder and the azure of the lake rimmed in snow, the Village becomes resplendent in its winter white, and visitors and locals alike wear ear to ear smiles like a gingerbread man. It’s magical here in Big Bear Lake. Skiers and snowboarders can catch big air and magnificent views while cruising Big Bear’s pristine network of groomed powder trails. From your first step onto the chairlift, time stands still as you get in as many runs as possible before the sun sets. There’s a world of frosty fun beyond the slopes, too! Pack a picnic lunch (think hearty sandwiches and hot chocolate) and trek on snowshoes or cross-country with family and friends on trails valley-wide. With the snowy ground as your easel, be the first to make snow angels or build a snowman. You may even discover more than your own snowshoe prints, as the forest abounds with deer, squirrels, foxes, and raccoons, too. For over-the-top outdoor fun, take flight on a zipline high above the forest floor or race inner tubes in snow play areas where you can bank on plenty of the white stuff. Your kids will fill the air with laughter and beg for more.
Perhaps your idea of enjoying the great outdoors is from the warm indoors. Mosey over to a cozy Big Bear restaurant, get a window table and a hot toddy, and watch the scene outside that is reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. Back in your cabin or condo, gather around a crackling fire and play games, read, or snooze.
