Snowshoe Tours – Explore Big Bear’s beautiful backcountry on a guided snowshoe tour with a naturalist. Learn about Big Bear’s ecology and natural history in a pristine winter setting.
Trans Am / High Cascade Finals – Finals are here! A gathering for amateurs to push each other in a jam style jump-jib environment.
Kenda Cup West/California State Cross Country Series – The best professional mountain bikers in North America will be in Big Bear for the 5th stop on the Kenda Cup West Bike Series. Also, there is racing for all amateur level racers.
Volcom PB & Rail Jam at Bear Mountain – Volcom Stone’s amateur snowboard series. The event is free, on a firstcome first-serve basis. Tons of free prizes and food!
CATS presents Robin Field! A Musical Comedy Life – Music and script based on the life of awardwinning entertainer, Robin Field. From the acclaimed singer-pianist, CATS performs light pop classics from the Great American Songbook. Victor Alvarez Memorial Race – All proceeds go to the Big Bear Ski Education Foundation.
Big Bear Discovery Center’s Summer Concert Series – From May to September various live performers light up the stage at the Discovery Center’s outdoor amphitheater. Enjoy live music all summer long amongst the forest pines and starry skies. Bear Country Fair – Enjoy country fair activities for the whole family. Includes face painting, jewelry making, a bear toss and bear roaring contest.
Eagles Celebration at the Discovery Center – Special program at the Discovery Center with informative talks and demonstrations devoted entirely to bald and golden eagles!
JUNE Big Bear Pirate Faire – Big Bear Lake transforms into a 17th century buccaneer village with a treasure hunt, a ship-to-shore live action battle, four stages of lively entertainment, vittles hot off the grill, grog ale and a pirate swag shopping village.
USASA Slopestyle – Men, women, boys and girls of all ages and abilities participate in organized snowboarding at Bear Mountain.
FEBRUARY 4th Annual Snowshoe the Bear – Snowshoe event for all skill levels. There is a 5K and 10K course that starts at Big Bear Village and goes onto National Forest trails.
Ride the Mountain – Big Bear Choppers motorcycle event. A great day for riders! Industry-related vendors, a bike show and a poker run.
USASA Boarder Cross – Top riders from each series qualify to compete in the annual national championship for boarder cross. Analog Go Huck Yourself at Bear Mountain – Amateur slopestyle contest. Free giveaways, DJ, prizes and more. Women’s Edventures – A two-day clinic and workshop at Snow Summit designed for women who wish to learn or improve skiing and/ or snowboarding skills.
APRIL Fishing Season Opens – Big Bear’s marinas and fishing guide services open for the season. See pages 25-26 for complete listings. Pontoon boats, fishing boats, gear, tackle, fishing licenses and guide services available. Farmers Market Opens – Enjoy farm fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers all summer long. The Farmer‘s Market also features unique arts, crafts and handmade items by local artisans. Enjoy the outdoor patio with dining and espresso bar. Earth Day Celebration – Celebrate Earth with a special program at Big Bear Discovery Center.

Fishing for $50K – Imagine reeling in a fish worth $50,000! The angler who catches the grand prize tagged trout will win $50,000. The other nine tagged fish are worth cash prizes and a variety of Big Bear lodging and adventure packages. Big Bear Lake JazzTrax Summer Music Festival – Enjoy the 6th annual JazzTrax Summer Music Festival from the shores of Big Bear Lake, which features the biggest stars of smooth jazz performing from a floating stage on the lake.
