May Trout Classic The Grandaddy of Them All May 17-18, 2014
The Community Arts Theater Society (C.A.T.S.) was established in 1994 as a nonprofit theatrical organization designed for community participation in bringing high quality, affordable theater to the Big Bear Valley. Check the C.A.T.S. website for info and additional performances.
The 32nd Annual Jim Hall Memorial May Trout Classic is the longest running fishing tournament at Big Bear Lake, and has become a family tradition with multiple generations participating in the annual event. The May Trout Classic is known as ‘The Granddaddy of Them All’ because the lake is stocked with enormous trophy-sized trout. The top nine largest trout caught share or split in prize money, and an opportunity to catch a tagged trout worth $10,000. To keep this family tradition alive all participants under 16 years of age with a paid adult get free entry into the tournament, and are eligible for all prizes.

Thanksgiving Day Fun Run in Big Bear Lake
Mountain Christmas Boutique Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend
This event is held at Meadow Park on Thanksgiving Day and is designed primarily as a family event. Turkey Trots are a popular hallmark event in many communities across the nation, typically having a light and festive atmosphere for attendees. In anticipation of indulgent Thanksgiving feasts we run in turkey trots to burn off calories before the big meal. First prize for winning is an actual turkey that the winners can use for his or her family’s Thanksgiving feast. The Big Bear Turkey Trot has 3 race distances – 3, 6, and 9 miles – and registrants are encouraged to dress-up in costumes, either turkeys or bears, creating a fun and festive event. There is also a Pie Eating Contest! The family friendly event is the perfect start to Thanksgiving Day, bringing together members and visitors of the community for a fun and festive happening in Big Bear Lake.
November 28-30, 2014 Let the shopping season begin! Big Bear’s largest arts and crafts show of the holiday season features several handmade and unique-one-of-a-kind gifts. You are sure to find something for every budget, from homemade jams and soups to wirewrapped jewelry, and from homemade wood crafts to customized ornaments.
