ERASMUS+

Our ultimate goal is to inspire individuals and communities towards making environmentally responsible choices.

IMPRINT+ is an international project that aims to highlight the amount of natural resources we use in our daily lives. Through education, action and entrepreneurship it empowers young European citizens and communities to restore and conserve their local natural resources. The motto of the project is that each person has the ability to lower their environmental footprint which will contribute to the restoration of ecological, social and economic balance.


During this second semester, students and teachers have participated in several international events, as part of the Erasmus+ projects implemented in our school & the school exchange agreements established with European Schools

ÉCHANGE SCOLAIRE IMPRINT+

FRANCE- ÉCHANGE APRIL.- Au cours de la semaine du 30 Mars à 6 Avril, un groupe de 29 étudiants de 1 Baccalauréat et 3 professeurs de l'IES Pedro Jiménez Montoya de Baza, ont mené un échange scolaire avec la ville IES Jean Rostand de Caen, dans le Normandie région de la France. C'est la cinquième fois que cet échange a lieu entre les deux écoles. Les étudiants ont la possibilité de vivre dans des familles et connaître le fonctionnement du système éducatif français, assister à des cours et participer aux activités du centre. Tout cela complété par une série d'activités culturelles afin de connaître l'histoire et la culture intéressante de la région Normandie.

SPAIN- IMPRINT+ MARCH.- From 24th to 29th March, a group of students , teachers and local authorities from Portugal, Ireland, Italy & Spain have taken part in a Training Course on ecological compensation and also participated in a multiplier event in Baza. This meeting has been hosted & by IES P. Jimenéz Montoya and Teachers' Training Centre. in Baza.

ITALY- EUROPE 2020 APRIL.-Il giorno 5 aprile alle 10,30, presso l’Aula Magna del Liceo Scientifico “Mario Pagano”, si è tenuta la giornata di presentazione del lavoro svolto e dei risultati conseguiti da parte degli studenti sia italiani che stranieri partecipanti al progetto: “Europe 2020: Offering New Perspectives and Incentives for Young People” nell’ambito del programma Erasmus + KA2. Al progetto medesimo hanno preso parte, oltre agli studenti molisani, l’Ernst Sigle Gymnasium di Kornwestheim (Germania), l’ IES Pedro Jemenez Montoya di Baza (Spagna), l’Ulenhof College di Doetinchem (Olanda). Questo progetto, in particolare, mira ad offrire ai giovani le competenze necessarie per facilitare il loro ingresso nel mercato del lavoro nazionale ed europeo. La presentazione di quanto realizzato è avvenuta in presenza del Sindaco e Presidente della Provincia di Campobasso, Antonio Battista, dell’Assessore alla Cultura del Comune di Campobasso, Adele De Capoa, della Dott.ssa Carmela Basile di Europe Direct Campobasso e della Prof.ssa Lorella Perniola esperta di programmi europei..

BILINGUAL IMMERSION DEVELOPING 21ST CENTURY COMPETENCES

in this section we will have a look at examples of good practices within the context of bilingual teaching at our school: CASE-STUDY 1 Project: Living our Heritage Year: 4 (ESO) Mobile Learning& English through ART & History Skills: Listening/Reading/Speaking / Writing Resources: Mobile phones & QR codes and apps Brief explanation: This activity is part of the Year 4 Geography & History programme; and it has been designed taken into account the aims of the project "Living our Heritage", implemented in our school by Ms Gallego. Activity desciption After completing the unit of study involved, students were distributed in groups and asked to search for a number of QR codes spead around the city, scan the information and create a timeline of the city with the information gathered.

KEY COMPETENCES & CLIL: EXPERIENCES AND PROJECTS.

Apart from applying mobile learning and gamification strategies to increase motivation among students, this scavenger hunt aims at linking learning and social compromise; promoting the discovery of cultural heritage by teens facilitates intercultural understanding, respect , as well as their future participation in conservation programmes and other community projects.


CLIL APPROACH MICRO TEACHING ACTIVITIES BY LAURA GALLEGO

Topic: The Cold War Year: 4 ESO Skills: Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking Resources: textbook, internet and worksheet Brief description: In order to review their understanding on the cold war, students are asked to answer a number of questions using information obtained from their textbook and also some useful internet resources.

As a sort of recap, pupils will complete two online quizzes available at http://alphahistory.com/coldwar/cold -war-quizzes/ and https://quizlet.com/659759/cold-warvocabulary-flash-cards/ Movies & History I This collection of microactivities also includes working on selected scenes of two well-known famous films: Good Bye, Lenin & One, Once they have completed this Two , Three (both films are short quiz, the next task will involve available at you tube). creating a timeline of the main conflicts occurred during this period. I


In order to meet Secondary students' interests and needs, the bilingual programme offers two itineraries: a) Itinerary 1: only two subjects are taught partially in L2 (English); there is a preference for the more practical and less complex, in terms of lexis or content b) Itinerary 2: three or more subjects are taught partially in L2 (English). The approach used is known as CLIL , i.e. Content and Language Integrated Learning. It involves learning the subject -content through a foreign language

IX Maths Photography Contest

Europe Day Celebrations!

During this second term, several initiatives haven been carried out to support and encourage scientific vocations among our pupils. Apart from conferences by leading university professors, the school organised interesting workshops and everybody had the opportunity to enjoy amazing lab experiments. Mathematical and logic puzzles, as well as quizzes and illusions mesmerized all the participants. Special thanks for the organising departments, Year 4 students and Early Childhood Education VET students who acted as monitors during the activities

A new edition of JM Maths Photo Contest has been held at our school. Among the assessment criteria used to choose the winners, we can mention the quality of the photo, the wit of the title, and the degree of reflection or discovery of maths principles or laws in everyday life. The Winners are: Year 1 My Geometry day by day (by Ana María García ,1 ESO A) Year 2 "The Thinking Cat (by Iván García 2º ESO B) Year 3 Circles and a window (by Alexandra Dura, 3º ESO C) Year 4 Tres al cubo (by Paula González 4º ESO A) Congratulations to all the winners and participants!

On the occasion of Europe Day students and teachers have participated in several projects, including exhibitions, research activities and project work This year the celebration coincides with the commemoration of 30 years of Erasmus programme. Our school has joined the network of European organisations involved in this project.

Baza Young People Awards for Olympic students Students taking part in the School Olympics celebrated in Germany last September have been awarded the Baza Young People Award

Natural Park Day at Sierra de Baza On 24th May, Year 1 pupils have taken part in a fascinating activity organised by Sierra de Baza Natural Park administrative board. This time students and teachers have built birdhouses to provide a safe place for birds to raise their chicks. This activity is closely linked to IMPRINT+ road map and our school's action programme.



MATT YOUNG OUR LANGUAGE ASSISTANT

After battling through years at University followed by a few in the professional arena, secondary school feels like eons ago for me. I don’t remember the education process being all that dissimilar, but there are some aspects (mainly aesthetic) which are vastly different to what I experienced in New Zealand. Everything from the design of the school’s buildings to the types of classes you can take. Admittedly, I’m only at school here for a few hours a week, so perhaps I’m not exposed to everything. Anyway, let’s briefly explore some of the differences. The biggest difference for me is without a doubt the campus. New Zealand schools generally have vast and sprawling fields of grass (a benefit that comes from having a lot more rain!). At Glendowie we had seven full-size football fields of natural grass – except we used them for rugby and cricket, as football is hardly popular in New Zealand. We also had a large gymnasium, which could seat the entire school of 1,500 students. This is commonplace in all Kiwi schools.

EDUCACIÓN SECUNDARIA EN ESPAÑA VS HIGH SCHOOL IN NEW ZEALAND I recall that we had numerous full-school assemblies – normally around two per week. Essentially this was a dedicated hour in the morning where the entire school would gather in the gymnasium and share interesting news, achievements and different cultural (Maori) traditions or musical and theatrical performances. It was a nice tradition which allowed us to keep up-to-date with all the goingson within the school and community. I have an immense respect for the teachers here in Spain because it’s almost as if school never stops. The day is broken into three parts by meagre 15-minute breaks. Back home we had a ‘morning tea’ break for 25 minutes, and then another 50-minute break for lunch where I can remember playing rugby with my mates almost every day. I don’t understand how the teachers here even have time for photocopying – it’s quite remarkable.

Something I really love about Pedro Jimenez Montoya is all the opportunities for cultural exchanges that the school offers. It seems that every week a different group of students are off on a different adventure to a different part of Spain or Europe. There are many more opportunities than we had in New Zealand, and I suppose that is the price we pay for living on an isolated island in the Pacific Ocean. A final difference I’d like to mention – and this is a big one – is that so many of the students are progressing terrifically with their English or French, and are more than capable of holding and building on conversations. Coming from a native English speaking country, there are very few people that can speak a second language. So, keep up the hard work bilingual students! Matt

VET & INTERNSHIPS VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING Celebration of Labour Day As part of labour day celebrations, Business Administration students have been researching on workers' rights and duties. The information gathered has been used to prepare an exhibition and a video showing the responsabilities and qualities of a good worker. The video is available at Europe 2020 youtube channel

ALHAMBRA II: New mobility Programme for VET students In order to facilitate future mobilities of year 1 VET students, a group of students will participate in a 15-day stay visiting companies and businesses in Aruzzo (Italy). This will certainly be an enriching experience for participants, and also a wonderful opportunity for the school to widen their contact network VET students learn about CPR at Civil Protection Unit in Baza IES P. Jimenez Montoya VET students have participated in a series of workshops on CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and other emergency techniques led by experts of the Civil Protection Unit and Protection Service against fires. " The best intervention is training and formation", emphasised the experts.
