DQ 1 \Some of the essential characteristics of effective communications in the written form are proper definition of technical terminology, accurate use of language, spelling and grammar, appropriate use of tone and document style. Even without a user being conscious of these choices, the reader is immediately drawn into a well-designed document. These elements are all very important for manuals, such as user’s guides. Other relevant elements for effective communications are the use of succinct language and simple, clear, cohesive writing. An uncluttered document allows for the highest level of comprehension. Economy of words is a premium in this setting. Your target audience must be considered when designing and composing a technical document. In doing so, your document will be properly geared to that audience’s needs and sensibilities. Graphics and other visual aides are also a required element for this type of writing.
