My scenario is almost identical to the scenario provided. I’ve always enjoyed singing, but never had the confidence to sing in front on anyone. My step-mother overheard me singing in my bedroom one day, and asked me to sing at my step-brother’s wedding. I was very nervous, but decided to sing after she continued to encourage me. After the performance, my entire family complimented me for doing such a wonderful job. I’ve been singing ever since.
