HARMONIOUS
DESIGN CONCEPT
As a designer, I seek to find harmony between the many different cultures, styles, and ideas I develop and to form them into messages with meaning.
I am Bing Han, a graphic designer in San Jose working with branding, visual identity, book design and UI/UX design. I majored in education and visual arts as an undergrad before I deciding to go for a graphic design at AAU. I am originally from China.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Amazon annual report from 2015 was the project I decided to redesign for my project. This project required finding a problematically designed annual report.
PROJECT CONCEPT I wanted to design a book that looks like an Amazon shipping box. I handmade the cover and binding with the inside pages. I also used bubble paper as the end sheet because bubble paper is usually found inside Amazon box with the shipped items. The main colors I used Amazon blue and orange. There colors will let people know this replace to Amazon. I used a column grid and simplified style on my design because I wanted it to look nice, neat and simple.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION A conference design was the project to make a system design for a design conference. This project required finding a design conference and designing a poster, brochure, badge, direct sign, website, app and tickets for the design conference.
PROJECT CONCEPT I chose a design conference that focuses on providing designers with the full stack of skills they need to create the next generation of products and services. I used a map of San Francisco as the background because the conference was based in San Francisco. Since this is about preparing design information for the future, I chose the high-tech feeling of typeface and elements in my design. The background also used high-tech feeling and dark blue to represent the future. I used columned grids in this project to design the text and images.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This is a series of poster design about the color orange. The concept of each poster has no link with others, but the typefaces were made by hand and tied together with each concept.
PROJECT CONCEPT I chose orange because this color gives people a feeling of warmth, happiness, health, enthusiasm, and freedom. I handmade nine posters that are not connected with each other, but each poster has its own meaning with orange. For example, I made orange chocolate letters to spell “trick or treat”. I put the letters in a black box that will make people think about Halloween. For the poster’s box, I made nine wholes in it, because I wanted people have a preview before they see the nine posters.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project focuses on redesign of bad signs on the street. I designed brochure, postcard and website for a Macaron store.
PROJECT CONCEPT This project was based on a real store near my house. I walked around on the street and found some signs that were written by hand. I chose Ketsiurin Macarons because I wanted to do some design related to food. I designed a brochure that included an introduction, menu, services, events and coupons. I also designed a website to help people learn more about this place. The last thing I designed was postcards. I decided to design a postcard because this is to eat or get party items. People can mail a postcard or invited friend to come to hang out. I used landscape layout that let me have a more dynamic way to show the colorful macarons sold there.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project is called Fire Safety For Children that more focuses on branding design that includes logo design, poster design, products design, environment design, event design and book design. Every design is based on a company that was created by myself. My company offers fire safety education products to schools and county governments. PROJECT CONCEPT This project is a fire safety system to educate students who study at a Chinese school, so I used Chinese and English on this project. I created a monkey as the main character to help students easily understand the fire safety information. I made a set of posters to teach students what should do before a fire. I did an event design to show a fire safety event that held in the Chinese school help students practice what to do during a fire. I also designed a fire emergency bag for students that they could use to learn how to protect themselves during a fire. The last design is a coloring book that will help students get over the trauma of the fire. CATEGORIES

Each thing in the emergency bag has one color associated with its’ purpose. There is a instruction on each one. There are also instruction cards in the bag. If the students cannot understand the language, they still can match the color to know how to use it and when to use it.
