SUMNAL - Association for development of the Roma Community in Macedonia

The International day of the child In sign of International day of the child- 1st June at the premises of Sumnal was held an art exhibition with the children from 6 to 14 years old. Through artistic works and drawings they had shown their feelings for happy and careless childhood.

Early children development – Early learning The program Early children development is currently implementing and in June. During the month of June were realized the following activities: flower garden, observation of flowers, happiness for the birds, insects (ladybug, bee, butterflies, ants and cricket) and etc.

At all these teaching activities were included parents, for easier learning the content.

With the parents was working alongside on different themes from the area of: physical and mental development, development of the language and the communication parent- children and getting general knowledge. During the month of June also the children had summer activities like: stacking cubes, jumping with a ball and bowling. .

Workshop on theme “Preconditions for communication and stability of teenagers’ relationships for eight graders and high scholars’” On 02.06.2011 at the premises of Sumnal was held a workshop on theme “Preconditions for communication and stability of teenagers’ relationships for eight graders and high schoolers” This workshop was realized by Verce Nikolik – social worker from Centre for social works of Skopje. With the children was discussing about the stability of relations and how is the communication important between the young for establishing a stable relation.

Workshop for First Aid and protection Dr. Andriana Sumanoska On 09.06.2011 at the premises of Sumnal was held a workshop on theme: First aid and protection. At the workshop were attending women from the community and mothers of the children who are attending the centre. Dr. Andriana Sumanoska was leading the workshop where to the present people was explaining how to protect from burns, bruises, cuts, wounds and etc. At the end of the workshop the present people were given mini-packets for first aid.

On 07.06.2011 with music and party the eighth graders who were attending the centre Sumnal had celebrated their party for finishing the primary school.

Project: Common breakfast At summer period Sumnal is implementing a project were all of the children who are attending the centre will have an opportunity to visit the restaurant Plaza de Toros at the city centre and to taste the specialties and at the same time to associate each other outside the community.

We express gratefulness to the restaurant Plaza de Toros.

Guests at Sumnal/ Guest Speakers On 16.06.2011 at the premises of Sumnal as a guest speaker came guests from Southern Africa Easther and Danie van Niekerk. Through interactive conversation interesting for everyone they had told the children about their successes which they had achieved in the past, and in a near future.

Children were asking questions for something that they were the most interested, and also were amazed by the different culture of the people who live in Southern Africa.

Informal socializing of the women outside the community At 21.06.2011 women from the community and mothers of the children who are attending the centre Sumnal had an informal socializing out of the community.

This even was possible thanks to the faithful friends Betty Easter and Karen Black Blackburn. Women had an opportunity for socializing, drink together an afternoon coffee and to enjoy at the restaurant Plaza de Toros at the city centre.

Donation from QSI International school - Skopje The International school QSI had donated funds for the children who are attending the centre Sumnal. With a part of the funds which were donated, was allowed, the children of the Program for Early Children Development to get tent with tunnel, and with that the activities who are implementing and are part of this program to be more effective.

Weekend in Ohrid 25- 26 June 2011 Friends of Sumnal, Heather and Kriss Henshaw, allowed the children from 7th and 8th grade to have a wonderful weekend in Ohird. At this two days excursion the children were socializing, enjoying and had a promenade at the centre of the city. Big gratefulness to our friends.

Summer program Within the program Additional learning and teaching was introduced a summer program for the children from 6 to 14 years old. The summer program includes bigger number of free activities and relaxation for example bowling, table tennis, basketball and etc. At the summer program are included additional classes in mathematics that maintain a student from the Mechanical Faculty.
