MEASUREMENTS

Size (approx) 85 cm x 90 cm

YARN

Classique Acrylic 8ply 100g

3 x balls Main Colour (M -unicorn print)

1 x ball each of 4 Contrast Colours (C1-lupin), (C2-silver), (C3 -rose) and (C4 -sky).

NEEDLES AND EXTRAS

A 4mm Circular Needle (80cm), or size that gives correct tension. A yarn needle.

TENSION

21 sts to 10 cm in width over garter st, using 4mm needles.

BLANKET

Using 4mm circular needle and C1, cast on 148 sts. Note - Work in rows, not rounds. Knit in garter st (1st row is RS) until work measures 7.5 cm from beg, working last row on WS. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark foldline. Cont in garter st until work measures 7.5 cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS. Break off C1.

Using M, Beg Patt - 1st row (RS) - Knit.

2nd row - Purl.

3rd row - K1, * P2, K1, rep from * to end.

4th row - P1, * K2, P1, rep from * to end. Rows 1 to 4 incl form patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx 75 cm from beg of patt, ending with a 2nd row. Break off M.

Using C2, knit in garter st for 7.5 cm, working last row on WS. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark foldline. Cont in garter st until work measures 7.5 cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS. Cast off.

SIDE BORDERS

With RS facing, using 4mm circular needle and C3, knit up 180 sts evenly along one side edge, between coloured threads placed on top and bottom borders. Knit in garter st for 7.5 cm, working last row on WS. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark foldline. Cont in garter st until work measures 7.5 cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS. Cast off.

Using C4, work other side border in same manner.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Darn in ends neatly towards centre of blanket, rather than along side edges for a neater finish. Fold all borders at coloured threads onto WS of work and neatly slip stitch in position. Neatly slip stitch side edges of borders together to close openings.
