MEASUREMENTS

To fit bust 80/85 (90/95-100/105) cm

To measure (approx.) 100 (110-120) cm

Length (approx.) 68 (69-70) cm

Sleeve length 45 cm

YARN

Velvet Yarn 100g x 7 (8-9) balls

NEEDLES AND EXTRAS

• A pair 5mm knitting needles, or size that gives correct tension.

• A yarn needle.

TENSION

13 sts and 19 rows to 10 cm over purl fabric, using 5mm needles.

BACK AND FRONT (both alike)

Using 5mm needles, cast on 67 (73-79) sts loosely.

Beg rib – 1st row (RS) – K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1. 2nd row – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows twice more = 6 rows rib in total.

Work in purl fabric (1 row P, 1 row K) until work measures 46 cm from beg, ending with a knit row.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping. Cont in purl fabric until work measures 18 (19-20) cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS.

Shape Neck and Shoulders – When turning, bring yarn to front of work, slip next st onto right hand needle, yarn back, slip st back onto left hand needle, then turn and proceed as instructed.

Next row – P31 (33-35), turn.

Next row – Knit to end.

Next row – P29 (31-33), turn.

Next row – Knit to end.

Next row – P27 (29-31), turn.

Next row – Knit to end.

Next row – P25 (27-29), turn.

Next row – Knit to end.

Next row – Cast off 23 (25-27) sts loosely for shoulder, then purl across rem sts to end.

Next row – K31 (33-35), turn.

Next row – Purl to end.

Next row – K29 (31-33), turn.

Next row – Purl to end.

Next row – K27 (29-31), turn.

Next row – Purl to end.

Next row – K25 (27-29), turn.

Next row – Purl to end.

Next row – Cast off 23 (25-27) sts loosely for other shoulder, then knit across rem 21 (23-25) sts (including st already on needle). Cast off rem sts very loosely.

SLEEVES

Using 5mm needles, cast on 33 (35-39) sts loosely. Beg rib – Work 6 rows rib as for lower band of Back and Front. Work in purl fabric, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every foll 8th row until there are 49 (51-55) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 45 cm from beg, ending with a knit row.

Shape Top – Cast off 9 (9-10) sts loosely at beg of next 4 rows. Cast off rem 13 (15-15) sts loosely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Darn in all ends. Using half mattress st, join shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seams. Join side and sleeve seams.
