NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
A pair each 4.50mm and 3.25mm Knitting Needles, or sizes that give correct tension.
A cable needle; 2 stitch holders for Sweater; A stitch holder and 5 buttons for Cardigan; A yarn needle.
TENSION
21 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 4.50mm needles. These garments have been worked on bigger needles than normally recommended.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
C3F - slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, P1, then K2 from cable needle.
C3B - slip next st onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K2, then P1 from cable needle.

FRONT
Work as for Back to **.
Shape Neck - Next row (RS) - Patt 28 (30-32-35-37), turn.

Shape Shoulder - Cast off 11 (11-12-13 -13) sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 10 (11-12-12-13) sts. Slip next 20 (20 -20-20 -22) sts onto a stitch holder and leave. SLEEVES
Using 4.50mm needles, cast on 50 sts.
Beg patt - Work 18 rows patt as for size 1 year, then rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times.

Next row - P2, P2tog, * P3, P2tog, rep from * to last st, P1 = 40 sts.
Work in stocking st for rem, inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 8th (6th -8th- 6th -8th) row until there are 46 (50 -52-54 -56) sts.
2nd row - K2 (2-4- 4 -4), * P2, K2, rep form * to last 0 (0 -2-22) sts, K0 (0 -2-2-2).

NECKBAND
Using mattress st seam, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 3.25mm needles, knit up 15 (16 -16-18 -21) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across sts from front stitch holder - dec 8 sts evenly across, knit up 15 (16 -16-18 -21) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across sts from back stitch holder - dec 10 sts evenly across = 66 (70 -70-7890) sts.
1st row (WS) - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end. 2nd row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end. Rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times more, then 1st row once = 9 rows rib in total. Cast off loosely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Darn in ends neatly. Join left shoulder and neckband seam. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves.
Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 21 (22-24-25 -26) sts rem.

Work to correspond with Right Front Band, omitting buttonholes.
FINISHING
