2 x balls 1st Colour (C1- White #01)

2 x balls 2nd Colour (C2- Sky #13)

2 x balls 3rd Colour (C3- Sky Meadow #08)

2 x balls 4th Colour (C4- Mint #03)

NEEDLESAND EXTRAS

1 pair 4.50mm Knitting Needles, or size that gives correct tension.Ayarn needle.

TENSION

19 sts and 36 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 4.50mm needles.This blanket has been worked on bigger needles than normally recommended.

SQUARE 1 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C1, cast on 57 sts.

Using C1, 1st row (RS) – K27, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K27 = 55 sts.

Using C1, 2nd row – Knit.

Using C2, 3rd row – K26, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K26 = 53 sts.

Using C2, 4th row – Knit.

Last 4 rows form stripes throughout. Cont in stripes dec 2 sts (as before) in next row, then in every foll alt row until 3 sts rem.

Next row - Knit.

Next row – Sl 1, K2tog, psso. Fasten off.

SQUARE 2 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C3, cast on 57 sts. Work as for Square 1, using C3 in place of C1 and C4 in place of C2.

SQUARE 3 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C4, cast on 57 sts. Work as for Square 1, using C4 in place of C1 and C1 in place of C2

SQUARE 4 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C3, cast on 57 sts. Work as for Square 1, using C3 in place of C1 and C2 as placed in Square 1.

SQUARE 5 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C2, cast on 57 sts. Work as for Square 1, using C2 in place of C1 and C4 in place of C2

SQUARE 6 (make 7)

Using 4.50mm needles and C3, cast on 57 sts. Work as for Square 1, using C3 in place of C1 and C1 in place of C2

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, sew in ends. Using mattress st, sew squares together as pictured or as desired.

BORDERS

Lower Border – With RS facing, using 4.50mm needles and C1, knit up 188 sts evenly along lower edge. Knit in garter st until border measures 3 cm, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely knitways. Upper Border – With RS facing, using 4.50mm needles and C1, knit up 188 sts evenly along upper edge (top of blanket).

Work to correspond with Lower Border

Side Borders – With RS facing, using 4.50mm needles and C1, knit up 177 sts evenly along side edge of blanket and lower and upper borders. Work to correspond with Lower Border
