The fabric requirements is for making oven mitts as shown in the photograph. Before cutting review the placement of colours in case you want to make you own choices.

NOTE: Stitch with ¼” seam allowance unless stated otherwise. You will need 2 of each 9½” X 14½” rectangles of the cotton fabrics, cotton batting, Insul-Brite and lining for each oven mitt. Take two rectangles for the oven mitt and cut 2½” strip from each fabric and sew it to the corresponding fabric.

Sandwich fabric lining right side facing down, Insul-Brite, cotton batting, outside fabric right side facing up. Quilt together in stitching pattern of your choice. Repeat it for the other set of rectangles. Print patterns from page 4 and 5 and tape pieces together.

CHRISTMAS OVEN MITTS Stack the two quilted pieces on top of each other, right sides together. Place pattern on top and stitch along th edge of the pattern. Cut excess fabric approximately 5 mm from the stitch line. Clip curves where necessary. Zig zag around the edges. Turn inside out.

HANGING LOOP Take a piece for the loop. Iron piece in half lengthwise, then open and bring edges to the center and press again. Stitch along the edge. Fold in half and pin it place.

BINDING Line edge of binding up with bottom edge of the oven mitt, right sides together. Stitch all the way around, folding end over when finished. Fold binding over the edge and press. Stitch all the way around in the ditch between the two fabrics, making sure to catch the binding on the inside.
