UPCYCLED DENIM SKIRT
Be sure that the front pocket linings are pulled up so that you don’t cut through them.
NOTE: If you are using stretchy jeans you don’t need to do any alterations for the back seam .
Sew panels together along the side seams. Zig zag the edges, press. Folder hem down 0.5cm, press. Fold the hem down by another 1 cm. Pin and press again. Stitch along the edge of the hem. Increase the stitch length to maximum and stitch along the top edge of the skirt.
Pin skirt to the jeans, matching seam lines. Gather the top edge of the skirt to match the width of the jeans. Stitch panels to the jeans. Make sure not to stretch the jeans as you stitch.
STEP 2: POCKETS
Embellish pockets with some fabric. Cut fabric of your choice to desired shape. Fold under the edges. Press and hand stitch in place.
Press and top stitch along the skirt top.
STEP 4: BELT
Cut 3 strips 7cm x width of the fabric from Kensington Confetti. Jon them together end to end. Fold in half with right sides facing. Stitch along the edges leaving a small opening on one side. Cut excess fabric at the ends.
NOTE: All seam allowances are 1cm. Sew pieces right sides together.
Turn inside out, press and top stitch around the belt close to the edge.
