MEASUREMENTS
Size (approx) 40 x 40 cm
MATERIALS
Chunky Yarn 100g x 4 balls
NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
A pair 9mm knitting needles or size that gives correct tension. A cable needle; Strong sewing thread for sewing seams (to prevent bulky seams); 40 x 40 cm cushion insert.
TENSION
8.5 sts and 12 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 9mm needles.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION
C6F = slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.
CUSHION
Using 9mm needles, cast on 40 sts.
Beg patt - 1st row (RS) - (K4, P1, K6, P1) 3 times, K4.
2nd row - K5, (P6, K6) twice, P6, K5.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows once more.
5th row - (K4, P1, C6F, P1) 3 times, K4. 6th row - As 2nd row.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows once more.
Last 8 rows form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 40 cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark foldline. Cont in patt until work measures approx 40 cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Darn in ends. Fold cushion in half so that cast on and cast off edges meet. Using sewing thread and half mattress st seam, join side edges. Place insert inside and close opening.
