MEASUREMENTS

Width (approx) 30 cm

Length (approx) 190 cm

MATERIALS

Velvet or Velvet Mix 100g 4 x balls

NEEDLES AND EXTRAS

A pair 5mm knitting needles, or size that gives correct tension.

A yarn needle

TENSION

12 sts and 20 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 5mm needles.

SCARF

Using 5mm needles, cast on 36 sts. Knit 5 rows garter st (1st row is WS).

** Beg Border Patt – 6th row (RS) – Knit.

7th row – K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2. 8th row – K2, * yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2. 9th row – Knit.

10th row – Knit.

11th row – Knit. **

Rep from ** to ** twice more, thus completing border patt. Beg Main Patt – 1st row (RS) – Knit. 2nd row – K2, purl to to last 2 sts, K2. Rep 1st and 2nd rows once more, then 1st row once 6th row (WS) – Knit. 7th row – Knit. 8th row – Knit. Rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times.

15th row – K2, * yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2. 16th row – As 2nd row

Rows 1 to 16 incl form main patt.

Cont in main patt until work measures approx 180 cm from beg, ending with an 8th row

Beg Border Patt – 1st row – K2, * yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

2nd row – K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2. 3rd row – Knit. 4th row – Knit. 5th row – Knit. 6th row – Knit. Rep rows 1 to 6 incl twice more Knit a further 2 rows.

Cast off loosely knitways.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Darn in ends neatly
