“Non è estate nella città malinconica che calda assapora le parole non dette. Non è estate sulla tua pelle coperta che fredda cerca calore nei ricordi sbiaditi. Non è estate in questo tempo mutevole che sfugge veloce nei sogni finiti.” Valentina De Meo

DESIGNER PROFILE

CLIZIA ORNATO Jewelry designer

Lo Voglio Collection Jewelry in silver filigree, bobbin lace and pearls unique pieces hand-crafted in Italy. Centuries-old Italian traditions are intertwined in the “Lo Voglio” collection. Filigree weaves develop blossoms of bobbin lace: the silk thread continues and complements the silver wire ‘architecture’ in an endless play of solids and voids, transparency and opacity, sensations of lightness and material

Clizia Ornato has been designing and selling contemporary art jewelry since 2006. The designer’s company is based in Bologna (Italy) where the collections are created according to the influences of fashion and the needs of the present. This involves an ongoing search for and scrutiny of the materials, styles and geometric shapes. The result is a niche product featuring the world renowned excellence of Italian handicrafts. The expressive originality of the collections in limited editions designed by Clizia Ornato has garnered her the attention of prominent fashion magazines, among which Elle, Vogue Accessories, Collezioni Accessori, Marieclaire, Glamour, Fashion, Flair, Grazia etc.

“LO VOGLIO” JEWELRY COLLECTION strength. With a leap in time and style, here we see pure tradition contemplating and evolving into a special spot in the universe of luxury and bridal haute-couture, with a piece of jewelry on the leading edge of contemporary.

TOMOKO TOKUDA Jewelry designer Born in 1979 in Tokyo, Tomoko Tokuda moved to Italy in Milan when she was 4 years old to follow her father’s business. After graduation she moved to Alsace in France for high school education. In 1999 majored in art history at Grenoble University. Then she studied fashion at LISAA, in Paris, until 2002 and returned to Milan to study dress pattern at “Carlo Secoli”. Since 2003, she took charge of embroidery design of “Trust Toilette”, the first line of Ashcorp Ltd. And finally in 2006 she set up her own accessory brand “Tomoko Tokuda”.

RECYCLING & UNIQUE PIECES

“When I was 25 years old, I was fascinated by a dusty box packed with old watches I accidentally found in the antique market in Milan. There was a special shine in the old watches and I was wondering if these objects cannot be turned into another way and used again. Old things have a particular indefinable colour, a warped shape and mysterious feeling. They have their own stories such as a human-being. I wanted to apply new light to a thing that was not able to be used because too old or broken or that has been forgotten. And this was the main motivation to produce Tomoko Tokuda unique pieces. Going to the antique markets in various places, I choose parts and I combine them creating my jewels. Human hand is clumsy, there is no perfect thing that human-beings can make. That’s the reason why handmade creations have a true value and a beauty that will last forever.”

THE MAKE UP ARTIST

Serana Palma the Make up artist: “Colors have always had a constant strong presence in my life. My choice was always focused on flamboyant, strange, fascinating things. I

think that adding some color to one’s life is important, if not crucial. All my studies have always been focused on this idea, firstly, attending the Institute of Art, then the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, and concluding my professional training with the course of artistic make up at the BCM in Milan, Italy. This last experience made me finally understand which was my true path. Armed with the studies done previously, I have a more defined and artistically more complete vision of this work: I search for inspiration, study trends, transformations, but do not try to recreate them identically, but reworking what I saw from my own point of view. Bright colors, clean lines and graphic elements are inherent features of my work. I love to work in the world of fashion, so eclectic and expressive. Who says that fashion is boring, is wrong. There is always a large study of colors, tones, expressions, stories, artistic

references. I would love to work in the theater, which is another great love for me, since I’m about to finish my studies in scenography. Soon I am going to follow a specialization course in special effects and prosthetics, so I will be formed at 360 ° in my work. In the fashion story “Not a Summer Time” together with Valentina and Beatrice I chose to focus on a part of the face at a time: first the lips, then eyebrows, eyes, and finally, leaving the rest of the face a naturally clean. The colors, very bright and alive, come out with strong vitality, as it does on the other hand the color of the outfit. A lot of contrast (with only a few shades) plays the key role. Even in the color of the nails this scheme was used. Talking about the hair style, we decided to keep it very clean, linear, no frills in order not to distract the attention. The beautiful blue eyes of the model and the great talent of Valentina and Beatrice did the rest.” www.serenapalma.it
