WAdam Gerndt planned the den as a mini-retreat within this primary home. “One of my main goals is to create a refuge for people to escape the trials and stresses of daily life,” Adam says. “Incorporating authentic materials into those designs just makes the spaces feel better and more comfortable.” Located just o the main living area, the den features a vaulted ceiling,

stone replace, and clear-stained pine panels on the walls and ceiling. “As designers, we have opportunities to create rooms that help homeowners make memories,” says Adam. “Scale, materials, and textures all play into that.” For seating, the Christopher Collection design team chose a channeled-leather Verellen sofa in tobacco brown and a Verellen daybed covered in wool bouclé. Accessories in stone, metal, fur, and soft fabrics o er a pleasing contrast. A photograph by David Yarrow adds intrique to the room. “ e natural elements and the juxtaposition of antiques and contemporary pieces give this room a rich nish,” says design liaison Britney Bradford.
