SENIOR SCHOOL UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Senior School at BIS Abu Dhabi. presentation outlines the uniform expectations for School students, ensuring a professional and cultu appropriate appearance that prepares students for professional settings.

General Guidelines

Fit and Neatness: Clothes should fit well and be rips or extreme discolouration. The overall look neat and polished.

CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS DRESS

When choosing your clothes, make sure they look smart and reflect our school's values and dress code. Dressing well not only shows respect for our school but also helps you develop a sense of professionalism that will be important in your future careers.

Boys can wear dress trousers or chinos paired with a collared shirt, such as a polo shirt or dress shirt. Ties are optional, and shirts must be tucked in. Crew or V-Neck jumpers can be worn.

Girls can wear dress trousers, skirts, or dresses that are below knee length, paired with blouses or smart tops that cover the shoulders and chest. Blazers or smart, fitted cardigans can be worn.

CULTURAL SENSITIVITY

In the UAE, dressing modestly is really important. You should wear clothes that cover your shoulders, chest, stomach and knees.

Avoid wearing anything too revealing or tight-fitting to make sure your outfit is appropriate and respectful of the local culture and community values.

Shirts: A smart collared shirt, including polo shirts, dress shirts, or turtlenecks. The shirt must be tucked in.

Trousers: Chinos or smart trousers should fit properly. Overly baggy or combat trousers are not allowed.

Footwear: Smart leather or leather-look shoes of an appropriate colour.

Leather sandals may be worn with national dress. Sliders, flipand other casual footwear are not acceptable.

Sports shoes are not allowed.

Accessories: Keep accessories minimal and tasteful.

Hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed.

ACCESSORIES AND JEWELLERY

Students are required to wear minimal and tasteful accessories and jewellery.

Simple wristwatches, understated earrings, or conservative necklaces are acceptable.

The focus should remain on professionalism, safety and respect for the school environment.

SHOES

You need to wear smart leather shoes to school. This means no trainers, including Nike Air Forces. Also, you can't wear canvas shoes like Converse or any type of athletic shoes. Your shoes should look formal and professional.

WHAT IF I WANT TO WEAR NATIONAL DRESS?

Cultural identity is an impo of our school community. Islamic students may wear dress with traditional Arab leather sandals. Sliders, flip any other casual footwear allowed.

CASUAL OR ATHLETIC WEAR

Casual or sports attire is not permitted.

For students studying SEHS, their class teacher will contact the Head of Year on practical days to seek permission for the BISAD PE Kit to be worn on the day.

BTEC Sports students are required to wear the BISAD BTEC uniform for their subject. Under no circumstances are you permitted to wear shorts in the school building.

RIGHTS COME WITH RESPONSIBILITIES.

The guidance in this presentation is to ensure fairness and high standards.

Your form tutor and form representatives check your uniform each morning.

If you come to school in clothing that doe not follow this guide, disciplinary action w be taken.
