Bishop Gorman High School Diocese of Las Vegas
“Here
Bishop Gorman students: kindness, character, community. The championships and achievements make us great, but these three traits are ingrained in our school’s DNA. Because in a society that preaches cynicism, we have kindness. In a time where is what unites us all as
it is so easy to do what is convenient instead of what is right, we have character.
In
a world
where we can feel so alone, we have community.
And
that is what makes
Bishop Gorman
special.”
H annah R ogers Valedictorian Class of 2015
Welcome to Bishop Gorman High School
On September 7, 1954 Bishop Gorman High School opened as the only Catholic high school in Southern Nevada with the vision to provide students with an unparalleled college preparatory education in an environment distinguished by Catholic values. Bishop Gorman has been rooted in the fabric of Las Vegas for sixty years, never straying from our founders’ initial vision. We continue to welcome students who seek quality, Catholic college preparatory education from all socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds throughout the Las Vegas community. Leaders of today and tomorrow continue to benefit greatly from the spiritual and academic formation that is central to the Bishop Gorman experience.
In 2007 Bishop Gorman High School moved to its current Summerlin campus in order to meet the demands of the growing Las Vegas population. Since that time the campus has expanded and currently sits on 56 acres at the base of the beautiful Spring Mountain Range. Our state of the art facilities allow us to provide our students with every opportunity they need to succeed in today’s competitive environment.

Campus Life Block gaels period
schedule
Modified
Bishop Gorman High School is committed to meeting the needs of all of our students by using a variety of different approaches. One of the methods we have developed to reach this goal is the GAELS (God, Activities, and Enhanced Learning Sessions) Period. The GAELS Period provides students and teachers extra opportunities to meet and extend their experiences beyond what they may have already received during the regular instructional time while still in school. The GAELS Period allows for remediation, intervention, enrichment, study time, makeup work, club and Campus Ministry meetings, as well as other school programs.
8
Each Tuesday and Wednesday students attend 3 classes for an extended time period. This allows students to experience a typical college class schedule while affording in-depth instruction that cannot be accomplished in a typical 50 minute class period.
Summer
enrichment
We offer students the ability to complete classes during a summer program. We offer on-site and online courses to meet the needs of summer schedules. Course offerings include Theology, social studies, art, physical education, driver’s education, dance and health. Semester credit is awarded for each course.
Travel Opportunities
Bishop Gorman students have the opportunity to expand their horizons: BGHS summer European adventure, Utah Theatre Thespian trip, Close Up program in Washington DC.
