The 1:1 iPad program permits us to maximize the advantages of current technology in our academic instruction and ensures that our students have the technological competence necessary to be successful in college.
naviance family connection
Naviance is a web-based program designed to help students navigate every aspect of the college admission process. This program allows students to take a personality assessment and interest inventory, access a college database, research potential colleges, build a college resume, create a college list and manage their college applications.
wellness counseling Our wellness counselor provides support to students who need assistance beyond that which is offered by a guidance counselor. The wellness counselor assists students with topics such as stress, balance, grief, family, and other common teenage issues. Additionally, the wellness counselor makes referrals to professionals in the community when warranted.

Each Tuesday and Wednesday students attend three classes for an extended time period. This allows students to experience a typical college class schedule while affording in-depth instruction that cannot be accomplished in a typical 50 minute class period.

Bishop Gorman High School is committed to meeting the needs of all of our students by using a variety of different approaches. One of the methods we have developed to reach this goal is the GAELS (God, Activities, and Enhanced Learning Sessions) Period. The GAELS Period provides students and teachers extra opportunities to meet and extend their experiences beyond what they may have already received during the regular instructional time while still in school. The GAELS Period allows for remediation, intervention, enrichment, study time, makeup work, club and Campus Ministry meetings, as well as other school programs.

We want you . . . theology Students have Theology courses in their schedule each year. Courses include: Sacred Scripture, Christology, Paschal Mystery, Ecclesiology, Morality and Catholic Ethics, Social Justice, Christian Vocations, World Religions and Apologetics.
liturgy In keeping with the commitment to enhance the spiritual life of the Bishop Gorman community, students and faculty worship together during monthly Eucharistic celebrations. Students are welcome to participate in the liturgies as lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, altar servers, or members of either the Worship Choir or Praise & Worship Group.
retreats Students are encouraged to participate in our retreat program. In addition to our day-long class retreats, we offer: Quest and Kairos which provide an opportunity to explore one’s relationship with God, others, and self.

A key aspect of our mission is to create a community where service is valued and celebrated. Students are required to complete 25 hours of community service annually. Many service opportunities are provided for student participation throughout the year. Last year, Bishop Gorman students performed over 37,500 hours of service to over 150 agencies.

Our student-governed Matthew 25 Board conducts a weekly on-campus collection and reviews applications from those in need requesting monetary assistance. Last year, school-wide collections totaled over $55,000 which was distributed throughout the Las Vegas community.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer and to attend school events like Back to School Night and Parents’ Night Out, where parents will have opportunities to meet their student’s teachers and attend informative workshops presented by the College Counseling Center. Get to know what life is like at Bishop Gorman and see what we’re all about through our athletic events and theatre productions. We offer many Gael gatherings throughout the year including our Golf Classic, Knight of the Gael and our Passport Wine Tasting event, just to name a few.

Current students have the opportunity to interact with alumni as they work on campus, visit the classroom, cheer at games and attend school events. The Advancement Office helps alumni keep in touch with their alma mater by nurturing personal relationships and hosting multiple events throughout the year such as Homecoming and other Gael gatherings.

• A minimum 2.0 GPA or better in middle school, with “C” or better in core classes • A stanine level of 4 or above on the Placement Exam or any national exam • Positive discipline and attendance records INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS: • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in core classes (English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language and {if coming from a Catholic school} Theology) • Positive discipline and attendance records
tuition assistance • More than $1,100,000 was awarded in tuition assistance for the 2016-2017 school year • Over 30% of our students receive tuition assistance • Tuition assistance is available for families that qualify. Parents must complete an online application and be verified by February 16, 2018 to be considered for the first award review. Information available on our website: www.bishopgorman.org • Awards are based on demonstrated need and the availability of funds. Tuition Assistance award notifications will be mailed out in early March for the applications that have been verified by February 16, 2018 • Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and an excellent disciplinary record
