Kudos to: Anchor Brant, Natalie Cooper, Maria Corzo, Katie Lee, Sunny Lee, Maya Martinez, Jill McPherson-Kellogg, Eli Morton, and Jason Song for their excellent work and commitment to serving others.

I highly encourage each of you take some time during the summer months away from campus to complete your service hours. I hope the sophomore ring mass was a memorable experience for each of you who attended the April 30th ceremony with your friends and family. I ask the members of the Class of 2019 to keep in mind that your junior year will present many personal, academic, and social opportunities as you transition into your third year as a GAEL. Congratulations to all of the students and to Mr. Geoff Neuman for all of his hard work cultivating the talents of our musicians. Well done!
On Monday, March 20, a “homicide” occurred at Bishop Gorman High School. On March 24, yet another tragedy struck. Students in Ms. DeJoria’s Honors Human Physiology classes spent the next few weeks processing fingerprints, hair fibers, clothing fibers, and blood evidence in order to solve the crime surrounding the suspicious death of Elena Ferrante-Martin, beloved Department Chair of Performing Arts and the homicide of April Sauline, Director of Instructional Technology. This cross-currricular project involves the Broadcast Journalism and Photography classes as well. Stay tuned to find out who committed these horrific crimes!
Social Studies Honor Society Inducts Founding Members On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, history was made in the Social Studies Department as the St. Luke Chapter of Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society, inducted its founding members: Randi Aguilar '17, Julia Bertram '17, Bailey Capuano '17, Christopher Catechis '17, Audrey Conway '17, Emilie Hong '17, Rachel Korte '17, Brian Smith '17, Megan Wijesinghe '17, Christopher Hernandez '18, Kyle Melatti '18, Rhonda Papp '18, Kayla Marie Sideco '18, and Emerson Wieczorek '18. BGHS Students Helping In Our Community A Fun St. Patrick's Day
This year, when they learned that there would be no school on St. Patrick's Day, Kamilah Lepe '20, and Lauren Buchanan '20, decided to serve at the CCSD Interact Program (Special Needs Students).
Class of 2020 Gets Cookin' In March, Galeb Alowir, Cole Malm, and Jacob Burkemper baked over 100 cookies and delivered them to Mrs. Angela Urquiaga at Rancho High School. Then in April, they again got together to prepare 90 lunch bags to deliver to those who are less fortunate and in need of food at Rancho High School. The lunch bags included a sandwich, orange and a snack.
They volunteered on St. Patrick's Day and helped the students get creative with Leprechaun art projects. They joined the students in an exciting morning of Career Day visitors, and participated in music class. After a day full of festivities, one of the teachers, Mrs. Michelle, said this about the experience, "A few students really took to the volunteers. These students had few behavioral issues throughout the day as they did their best to impress our guests!" Thank you for doing such a great job ladies!
By spending a few hours baking or packing lunches, these Gaels not only had a fun time together, they also helped to make a difference in someone's day!
Way to go GAELS!!
Las Vegas Prom Closet Each year Project 150 hosts a boutique style shopping day for local high school students dedicated to this special occasion. Students are invited to shop for free with their student ID for fashionable new and gently used clothing for prom. This year, Holly Griffith '19 volunteered her time with Project 150 Las Vegas Prom, helping students find that special outfit for their Prom.

For Peeps Sake!
AP STUDENTS: AP Exams will be administered during the first
two weeks of May. You have been preparing for these exams all year and you will do great. Be sure to pay attention to the announcements and to your teachers for your exam location, date and time. Be on time and good luck!
W
ith the second semester quickly coming to a close, it is important to prepare and get ready for final exams. Here are helpful ideas to keep you focused! PREPARING TO STUDY: A Good Study Place
You need a good study place to be prepared to study. You should be able to answer YES to all of the following questions: • Is my Study Place available to me when I need it? If you share a Study Place, work out a schedule so that you know when you can use it. • Is my Study Place free from interruptions? Uninterrupted study time is important. Hang a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door & turn your phone off. • Is my Study Place free from distractions? Most students study best in a quiet environment. If playing music is helpful, however, keep the volume low. • Does my Study Place contain all the study materials I need? Keep reference sources and supplies such as pens and pencils, paper, ruler, calculator, and whatever else you might need handy. • Does my Study Space contain a large enough desk or table? Use a desk or table that is large enough to hold everything you need. Allow enough room for writing and try to avoid clutter. • Does my Study Place have enough storage space? Be sure you have enough storage space to allow you to keep your desktop or other work surface clear of unnecessary materials that can get in the way. • Does my Study Place have a comfortable chair? An uncomfortable chair can cause discomfort that will interfere with your studying. One that is too comfortable might make you sleepy. Select a chair in which you can sit for long periods while maintaining your attention. • Does my Study Place have enough light? The amount of light needed depends on what you are doing, be sure you can clearly see without any strain or discomfort. • Does my Study Place have a comfortable temperature? Too warm may make you sleepy; too cold may slow you down. Select a temperature at which your mind and body function best. Having a good Study Place is important for effective studying.

Just before Easter Break, the annual Peeps Lab in Mrs. Truitt's Biology classes was a complete success! In this lab students have to design all of the experiments and write a lab report. They test chick and bunny Peeps to see who survives their tortures (experiments). For example, with the "book smash" experiment, students drop a text book on the Peeps from 2-3 meters high and measure how much they have been smashed. The second experiment is the "flame test" where they subject the Peeps to 10-15 seconds with a lighter and then measure burn area. In the microwave lab, the students cook the Peeps until they explode and then they measure the size of the Peep as compared to before the test.
Environmental Club
Mr. Stan Hanel recently visited the students in the Environmental Club and shared his electric vehicle (EV) presentation. Mr. Hanel brought props and a couple of EV cars to explain their process. He along with Mr. David Sharp, a specialist in EVs and Charging Stations infrastructure, spoke with students and answered their questions about the infrastructure and technology surrounding EVs in Nevada. They also discussed the Tesla Model S chassis construction and other EVs still on the market. Mr. Hanel was a wonderful guest speaker for the Environmental Club as he was also able to share with the students information about the Tesla Gigafactory in Sparks, NV; Faraday Future developments, HyperLoop One, the growing lithium mining industry in Nevada and a lot of other related topics. We thank Mr. Hanel and Mr. Sharp for coming to visit our campus and for their dedication to a better environment for future generations by supporting zero-emissions transportation.

The Director of Instructional Technology, April Sauline, and Nelson Taylor invited all the faculty members to the faculty lounge one morning in March to begin building a cross-curricular community of sharing and collaboration. Each teacher was also encouraged to continue their professional learning through the Apple Teacher program online, and many of them have already begun to certify themselves in a variety of new programs. The entire Gorman community is fortunate enough to have access to these opportunities through the 1:1 iPad Program!
