legacy in action Bishop Gorman Gaels Theatre Guild produced a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment with their annual musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie. This production took audiences back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when "moderns," including a flapper named Millie Dillmount, were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. Under the direction of Elena Ferrante-Martin, Bishop Gorman High School’s production included a jubilant and enthusiastic cast of 42 students, crew of 38 students and a live orchestra with 15 students! The stage of the Jim3 House of Performing Arts was transformed with the help of ground supported LED walls and exceptional video images into various settings of New York City in the roaring 20s! Bishop Gorman High School alumni were an integral part of the success of this production. Alumni Production Staff included: Assistant Director and Stage Manager Maddison Turner '13, Technical Consultant Angela Botti '07, Costume Designer, Julie (Von Tobel) Roach '76, Assistant Choreographer, Paige Pensivy '12, Production Assistant, Yaneli Coral '15, Graphic Designer, Angela (Coury) Blagg '99 and Program Designer, Hannah Cava '12.

THREE SQUARE FOOD BANK
Bishop Gorman students go to Three Square every Tuesday during the school year to assist with sorting and packing food for low income Clark County students. Mr. John Goertemiller started this project with NHS and other Bishop Gorman students, and it has grown steadily over the years. The folks at Three Square love those Tuesday nights when so many projects are completed!
TWICE AS NICE
FORMAL WEAR DRIVE The Twice As Nice formal wear drive began in 2012 with the hopes of providing free formal wear to local teens who would like the opportunity to go to Prom or Homecoming, but are not in a position to purchase everything needed. Lindsey Remark '13 & Juliana Remark '13, and Maggie DiFederico '15, took this project on and, as a result, Bishop Gorman families have contributed hundreds of dresses, suits, purses, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories to provide these much needed items to other teens. The girls have handed off the duties of Twice As Nice to their younger sisters, Brittany Remark '18 (Deanna [Cambeiro] Remark '84), Sam DiFederico '18 & Sara DiFederico '18 (Maureen [Raftery] DiFederico '82 and Tio DiFederico '77). This year was the largest donation ever and the plan is to continue to expand the drive so that even more formal wear items can be provided to teens in need.

SERVICE EVENT FOR TEENS!
Over 200 Bishop Gorman students and adults gathered at the Fertitta Athletic Training Center to tackle several projects that would benefit homeless teens at a Clark County High School. Among those projects were: filling new backpacks with necessary toiletries and gift cards, creating cozy fleece blankets, making hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for when a student has no lunch, note cards filled with encouraging messages, and other projects. Ashley Brennan '18, had delivered some care packages at the holidays to the homeless advocate for these teens, and the experience moved her enough to pursue us doing more as a large group. 35th Annual
Knight of the A Celebration Gael of Service
On Thursday, March 23, parents, alumni and friends gathered to honor the fifteen individuals who dedicated 30 or more years of service to Bishop Gorman High School at the 35th Annual Knight of the Gael. With over 600 guests, we celebrated this very special group of people and their devotion to Catholic education. Their service is an outward symbol of what we strive for as a school, a special institution that prides itself on our loyal, faithful community and what it truly means to be a Gael. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our partners, Red Rock Resort Casino and Spa, Station Casinos, Breakthru Beverage Nevada, Lifetouch Photography, Encore, byDzign, Fertitta Capital, Michael E. Minden and Five Star Creative. Thanks to our auction donors Gustav’s Master Chef Catering, BSN Sports, Hakkasan Group, Mallinger Family Eye Care, Vegas Golden Knights, Julie Von Tobel Roach ’76, Father Bill Kenny ’62, The Jewelers of Las Vegas, Bear’s Best Las Vegas, Optic Gallery – Dr. Chen Young, Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, Schutt, and Stitched Lifestyle. A very special thanks to our many volunteers and student performers that helped make the evening extra special. Thank you to Mrs. Elena FerranteMartin and the Gaels Theater Guild; Mr. Geoff Neuman and the drum line; Mrs. Michelle (Cannella) Young ‘02 and ASG and the evening’s announcer Emerson Wieczorek ’18.
Fr. Norbert Bibeault, CSV
Gina Cunningham
Aggie Evert
Sister Lorraine Forster
Father Norbert Bibeault taught science and math for 36 years at Bishop Gorman. He also coached men’s golf, tennis, and bowling during his time at BGHS. For three decades he was a Viatorian presence on campus, teaching and guiding generations of students. Father Bibeault passed away in 2005, but will always be remembered as one of Bishop Gorman’s most beloved faculty members.
Mrs. Aggie Evert taught social science, was a school counselor, ASG moderator and eventually became the Assistant Principal and then Principal during her 31 years at Bishop Gorman. Aggie’s children, Stacey ’93 and Greg ’98, are proud alums. Bishop Gorman was lucky to have Aggie's leadership during some of the most exciting times in school history.
Margaret Foy
Ms. Margaret Foy is currently in her 45th year at Bishop Gorman. She has taught everything from computer class and typing to business education. She coached women’s volleyball, moderated the Future Business Leaders of America, moderated cheerleading and is currently the assistant librarian. Margaret’s daughter, Christie ’94 (and granddaughter, Jayme '18) also attended Bishop Gorman. Her years of service are an example of loyalty and commitment to Catholic education. 10
Spring 2017
Ms. Gina Cunningham has worn many hats at Bishop Gorman. Not only was she an excellent science teacher, but she has been the women’s golf coach, swim coach, volleyball coach, softball coach, flag team moderator, assistant Precisionnaires moderator, cheer moderator, and she is currently the Assistant Principal of Academics. Always willing to help out wherever it is needed, Bishop Gorman is blessed to have had Miss C for over 40 years as a member of our team.
Sister Lorraine Forster dedicated 30 years of service to BGHS teaching religion, math, science and foreign language. Sister was also the Precisionnaires moderator and was especially fond of teaching and fostering a love for the lost language of Latin. Even if you never had her as a teacher, Sister was beloved by all who walked the halls of Bishop Gorman.
Connie Gerber
Mrs. Connie Gerber devoted 41 years to Bishop Gorman as a foreign language teacher, club moderator, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and eventually became the school’s Principal in 1998. Connie was the President and Principal from 1999-2005. After falling in love with one of the math teachers (Mr. Gerber) they had a family of little Gaels, Laura ’87, Joe ’90 and Ben ’97. She continues to play a vital role in our community and is a role model to all who value Catholic education.
Chuck Gerber
Joe Halpin
Pattie (Powell/Downs) Johnson
Dr. Jim Machinski
Jean Poteete
Vikki Rodrigues
Mimi Roos
Ken Roos
Mr. Chuck Gerber was a football coach, math teacher, men’s golf coach, and Athletic Director at Bishop Gorman High School. He devoted 40 years to BGHS. Along with his wife, Connie, they had three children Laura ’87, Joe ’90 and Ben ’97. Without Bishop Gorman, there would be no Gerbers and without the Gerbers, Bishop Gorman would not be what it is today.
Mrs. Pattie Johnson dedicated 39 years of service to BGHS as a social studies teacher, English teacher, and school counselor. During her time at BGHS there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do! She was the moderator for: cheerleading, National Honor Society, flag girls, Precisionnaries, pep club, S.A.D.D., and Student Ambassadors. Pattie recently returned to BGHS as a long-term substitute and we are so happy to have her back!
Mrs. Jean Poteete has taught everything from PE to science to health at Bishop Gorman and has also coached women’s basketball, softball, volleyball and was the cheerleading moderator. She is currently in her 41st year of service at BGHS. Alums love seeing her familiar face when they come back for a football or basketball game!
Mrs. Mimi Roos taught government and social studies for 41 years at Bishop Gorman. Mrs. Roos also was a class moderator, Precisionnaires moderator, and cheer moderator. Mimi met her husband, Ken, at Bishop Gorman and they had three children: Jeff ’91, Jennifer ’92 and Kristen ’94. Mrs. Roos was a role model and mentor, not only for her students, but dozens of young women who were her cheerleaders.
Mr. Joe Halpin taught English, journalism and moderated both the debate team and Yearbook during his 37 years of service to BGHS. Joe and his wife, Nancy, have seven children including BGHS alumni: Julie ’76, Dorothy ’77, Nancy ’79, Fran ’81, and Joe ’83. Mr. Halpin was not only a wonderful teacher but a kind man who is remembered fondly by all his former students.
Dr. Jim Machinski taught foreign language for 32 years at Bishop Gorman. He was the drama moderator, coached men’s soccer and was ASG moderator. Doc also served as Summer School Director and was eventually the Assistant Principal of Curriculum. Doc’s commitment to Catholic education extended beyond Bishop Gorman serving as Principal at local Catholic elementary schools. He is the epitome of a team player.
Ms. Vikki Rodrigues is in her 44th year of service at Bishop Gorman as the school Registrar. She is also a BGHS alumna from the class of 1970. Over the years, Vikki has also served as the cheerleading moderator and song-leader moderator. Dozens of Rodrigues have attended Bishop Gorman but Vikki has been the constant on campus for 4 decades. We are grateful to her for her dedication and service.
Mr. Ken Roos dedicated 39 years of service to Bishop Gorman as a math teacher, wrestling coach, business education teacher, and computer science teacher. He was lucky enough to meet the love of his life, Mrs. Roos, at BGHS and went on to have three children Jeff ’91, Jennifer ’92 and Kristen ’94. Mr. Roos is a kind man and a great teacher. Bishop Gorman is proud to call him a Gael.
Eric Seif
Mr. Eric Seif was a math teacher and college counselor for 35 years at Bishop Gorman. He also coached football, women’s basketball, tennis and baseball during his time at BGHS. Mr. Seif was the first to write the College Resource Guide for Bishop Gorman and he also started the College Excursion Program. Both of his children are BGHS alums, Doug ’95 and Randi-Lynne ’98. Mr. Seif’s guidance and expertise set the path for hundreds of alums as they went on to the next stage in their lives.
